He couldn't have written it 6 months ago. Isn't his point just that their charts have shown this strong move up? He is not arguing these stocks on some basic merit.
Netbooks: Not if, But What Will Replace PCs [View article]
top tier said, " Netbooks are okay for the road warrior and anyone else that doesn't need much from a PC and that's about it. True but that's where the big numbers are. both aunt Sally and niece Kim on facebook are getting tired of using big clumsey, too expensive, and problem filled machines that can do a thousand things they don't ever do Yes, it was cool for a while to own a machine that has 100 times the computing power of the luner landing module but that luster is wearing thin, driven by the constant bugs and delays of software that is too busy doing things you didn't ask for to do what you really want.
Tipping Point for U.S. Treasuries, From China's Perspective [View article]
Excellent, comprehensive analysis. I must be wrong because it seems so obvious that China is going to reduce their holdings of US debt as fast as they can without crashing the short term. China is not Japan. They don't need US consumers long term. The only real question is how they will finesse getting from point A to B without disrupting the world economy.

It seems like you can come at it from 16 different ways and you always end up concluding, "The only poltically expedient solution seems to be inflation." Inflation can easily get you -5% real return.
Six Reasons Why GM Should Declare Bankruptcy [View article]
>all GM needs, really, is to have auto sales improve somewhat. Really??? They have lost billions when car sales and the economy were good. GM and the union still just don't get it. When you hear them speak, they spend over half the time telling how they are already making big changes, doing the right things, have been for years. They have to be hit in the head with a 2x4 to get their attention.

GM still doesn't get it. They are offering 1/2 billion to bribe some of their pampered UAW workers to go home and enjoy their fabulous retirement benefits. If the gov had let GM fail, the workers might have been out on the streets with no buyout and even some of their retirement benefits in question. Which could still happen. I think the UAW doesn't get it either. As they have been saying, they are a great team!

I would absolutely love to hear the complete facts of the Geithner tax case instead of the endless chatter referring to "the tax problem" in the media reports. Like so many other important issues, it seems there is plenty of time to refer to the issue a hundred times a day but not enough time to explore it in depth once.

I'm betting on a "relief bounce" in gasoline consumption. You can hardly give away your SUV and big pickup and now that prices are not so high people will go back to more comfortable consumption until hit by another kick in the pants. I never bet against Americans' self indulgence.
Cruise control does NOT save gas on hilly country side. If you have an onboard mileage computer you can see a drastic drop when the transmission shifts down , out of torgue converter lockup and then out of overdrive to maintain the set speed. The engine RPM jumps up and mileage drops from 28 to 22 until the hill is crested and the transmission shifts back. It is especially irritating when this happens in gently rolling country just as you are getting to the top of the hill. You can do much better by foot , increasing throttle position gently just before you start up the hill and letting your speed fall off a few miles/hour .
