  • U.S. minimum wage battle starts to heat up [View news story]
Sure would pay an 18 yr old kid with zero experience $20K/yr, if they were hard working, energetic, reliable & dependable. That 18 yr old needs $20K to pay for car insurance, a college or trade education, or anything else he/she desires with the money they earned helping you run your business successfully.

I suggest watching Walmart, the documentary. Even as a shareholder, you will lose your "praise". There are many similar companies ( ie; Costco) that prosper with a better business model that benefits the consumer and employee. You are a consumer in this world, as well as an investor, right?

  • Is Verizon A Better Option Than AT&T In The Rural Wireless Market? [View article]
For these 2 companies, the profit is in connectivity-bundling and selling all their services ( not just wireless). Neither company gives a crap about rural areas, too much infrastructure needed to expand.

  • Verizon: 4.5% Yield And Cash Cow Wireless Business Follow-Up [View article]
One only has to read outside of investment sites to see that consumers are demanding FIOS,( which is Wireline) and politicians are following the crowd. Shareholders need to decrease their demand for short term benefits, and be content with the long term investment that is needed for FIOS infrastructure to be built out in many more areas.

Crainsnewyork.com has an article out this week "Pension burdens drive Verizon call" that's worth reading and factoring in to the big picture. • Verizon, FCC to face off over "net neutrality" [View news story]
The big telcos should be heavily regulated to protect consumers. But they are not, because they are top political contributors, millions are spent on lobbying in their favor, and the soon to be new FCC chairman, Tom Wheeler has spent his career in the telco/cable's back pocket and will now be the fox guarding the hen house.
