  • Why It's A Mistake To Raise Cash For Fear Of A Market Crash [View article]
I remember buying in late 2008 thinking that was the bottom...boy was I wrong. Then along came March, 2009. I waited until April to buy because I thought it was going to go even lower. That's the best I can do...

  • Now Is The Time To Be Fearful [View article]
Nothing is free. Our government is very inefficient when it comes to spending our money. The reason everything is so terribly out of whack is because of the government. I guarantee if you would take "government" out of the equation, we'd all have plenty enough to pay for our "doctor services".

  • What Will $2 Million Get You In Retirement? [View article]
I'm 47. I am planning my retirement with the assumption that I won't be getting SS. If I get some, then,''Hooray"!

I'm also trying to figure out how to keep my healthcare costs down. I told my wife that we are not allowed to get sick. I guess if we do get sick, I would look at the possibility of flying to a foreign country (I've been to Thailand) and pay cash for surgery.

Healthcare is way overpriced here in the U.S. (think Land Rover priced).

  • The 7 Reasons Why People Hate QE [View article]
Personally, I wish there was no Fed. Our money is back by what...the federal government? I am afraid. All my years of hard work (savings) is being eaten up by hidden inflation. The Fed can print at will...and it does and is doing.

In my mind, I believe one of the reasons stocks are going higher is because of this hidden inflation. It takes more and more of those 'dollars' that are worth less to purchase the stock.

And I wholeheartedly agree with reason 7. Let the chips fall...just like when a hurricane wipes clean the fools and foolishness that was built on low ground.

  • My 5 Points For Managing My Retirement Investing Behavior [View article]
I also use a spreadsheet set up with one company per tab, a master tab that sums all costs gains, dividends, previous years dividends, etc. It's semi-automated where I have macros set up to grab stock information from msn and yahoo. It's not perfected yet, as new obstacles arise such as stock splits force me to modify formulas.
I do however get to watch my portfolio grow, and I see every purchase and dividend and track the percentage gain/loss of each dividend I have received.

I would be interested to see samples of others tracking spreadsheets. I bet David Fish has a nice one, and probably all automated...
