dglsm: are you concerned about the usage of coal and nuclear with SO, as opposed to natural-gas-heavy ED or alternative-sources HE?

Vandooman: I was thinking that very thing. Perhaps O investors should also track FDX, WAG, FDO, DG, VS, WMT, AMC, DEO, BJRI, NTI, LGC and RAD,etc.. If O's tenants show EPS declines indicating that they're on the road to becoming tomorrow's Circuit City or Xerox, then, it would be time to bail on O. Your thoughts?

Thank you, Regarded. I am 'long' O and I track FDX, WAG, FDO, DG, VS, WMT, AMC, DEO, BJRI, NTI, LGC and RAD on the premise that if the tenants are 'solid', the landlord will get paid. Do you know where I could acquire a complete listing of Realty's tenants? Thank you, again!

    Thank you, April May.
For me and TNH ( Terra Nitrogen ), it's rated a 'buy' by Street.com at its current price. Torn between buying more or holding, I plan to do as you're doing and 'hold' for the same reasons you listed.
By 'switch', I assume that you mean transferring your current basis / exposed $s into a different fund(s) without putting additional $s into the sector. Correct?

I have TNH down 25%. I don't know what to do. How do you plan to 'deal' with the situation of your gold miner's fund?

Thank you, Paul. This is very helpful. Although I read quarterly earnings' reports religiously, I will re-read them going forward with an eye toward why the company's EPS might be trending down. I was being too simplistic.

Stocks with two, sequential quarters of declining EPS ( relative to other stocks in its sector ) get a 'red flag'. The third, sequential quarter of declining EPS gets a stock 'sold'. Yield be damned ... it's gone. Comments, please ...

I don't think that Phillip212 understood your "... for allocation." response. I understood. Perhaps Phillip212 could research 'allocation'. Or, you could be correct, as usual, and, Phillip212 is a master of the invalid comment.
