  • General Electric - Own It Now Or Own It Later, But Own It [View article]
No, you're missing the point completely. I have not suggested ulterior motives, or that you did or should have had inside information. What I am suggesting is that you should have anticipated that if you write a glowing article on GE, then some of your many readers are going to go out and buy some shares immediately because you are ranked by Seeking Alpha readers as #1 in 2 categories and #3 in another---congrats on that, by the way. Shouldn't you have anticipated your influence on your reader's behavior and realized that having some of them buying into GE the day before earnings are released could have turned out badly for them if something unexpected was in that report ? You're advocating investing here and not trading ? That's a false issue you're throwing out there to obscure the real issue. Whatever a person's motive is for taking a position in GE, they have to pick a time to take action. Whether you like it or not, you have an influence on that and all I am saying in these posts is that you used poor judgement by exerting that influence when you did. Fortunately for me, I did not take that 3%+ loss the day after the earnings announcement because I own no shares of GE, so your inference that I am bitter over a trade gone bad is way off the mark. I am an investor just like you and your readers and I'm just looking for some good advice, not a confrontation. However, I was hoping to find advice from someone who realizes that it is probably not a good idea to give that advice at a time that is ripe for surprises and increased volatility. Good luck to you, sir, and good bye.

I understand the points you just made and I certainly don't claim to be a market timer, but speaking of timing, you still didn't explain yours. Why write this article the day before the earnings release when such a move could possibly blow up in your face, which it did ? Why not write the article a couple weeks ago or a couple weeks from now ? Why write it the day before earnings ? Sorry, but that is not advocating market timing. I am advocating more responsible timing of your article and better anticipation of a negative event from a guy who should have known better.

I'm not smart enough to know whether you should be slammed for writing this article the day before an earnings miss which would have resulted in already being down over 3% if one had read this article yesterday and bought GE then, but if I were one of those unfortunate people, I would be really upset with you. Why did you time your article like that ? It seems very irresponsible to me, but like I said, I'm not smart enough to understand this situation, so please explain it to me.

Very nicely done! I was one of the "troublemakers" from the comments section of your other article that asked for an article like this. Thank you very much for your efforts and please keep this kind of article in the mix in the future.

  • Earn More Than 6% With These 4 Bonds [View article]
I always enjoy your articles too, but I have a problem with seemingly all the bonds you recommend not maturing until a date 20 to 30 years from now. I'd love to see some articles by you on bonds just below investment grade and thus having a good yield, but maturing maybe more like 5 years from now.
Would that be possible ? Thanks.

Well, I certainly hope you are right about this call because I believed your article about buying NLY just before the earnings announcement for a possible big surprise on earnings handily beating estimates. I got a surprise alright, but not the one I was hoping for and the drop in the share price was a heck of a lot more than a "bit" as you describe it in your opening paragraph. Hey, I'm not blaming you for my decision. That's all on me. Still, I think you'll agree that it definitely wasn't exactly your most prescient call to date ! LOL.

  • Book Review: 'The Little Book of Behavioral Investing: How Not To Be Your Own Worst Enemy' [View article]
I always read your articles and go to your website now and then, but I don't really understand many of the concepts. This article today by Doug Short sounds similar to some of the portfolios you track, but perhaps takes these ideas a bit further. Would you please check it out and consider trying to create a portfolio like this to track on your site ? Perhaps you already do this, so if so, which portfolio on your site would it be ? Thanks.

  • Treasuries Could Plummet 18% (Or More) Over The Next 2 Months [View article]
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I keep hearing this crap over and over again. I bought into it myself about 9 or 10 days ago and bought some TBT. I was rewarded with about a $1,400 loss in no time. Don't believe this garbage unless you can wait indefinitely for this scenario to play out. Interest rates had a small pop and now are headed back down again.

So what DOES "forecast how the curve will look in the future" ?
Obviously, there is nothing that can do that ! The back-testing is just a tool that might point you in the right direction. I don't think anyone is claiming otherwise.

  • Why Morgan Joseph Expects Triple-Digit Gains For This Pfizer Partner [View article]
I can't find any news on this stock today (3/6) that would cause this, but the share price is down over 20% in one day to about 78 cents. I assume something VERY bad just happened. Does anyone know what is going on ?
