I have decided to stop reading these concentrators because I find the political trolls who frequent this board more annoying than I am willing to endure.

I've been coming here for information about energy storage technologies, applications, and markets, not to argue about politics. But if did want to discuss politics, I certainly would not choose individuals as proud of their ignorance as the individuals who make political statements here are to debate.

I can't take responsibility for educating people who know basically nothing about the subjects they choose to vent about, so good-byte, folks. I hope you read some books about the issues that seem to interest you.

Good luck with your investments in Axion.

    I'm with you, D.

For the most part I mentally edit out whatever political venting posters manage surrepticiously to introduce into the conversation. Every now and then my tolerance level is breached, and I feel the need to ask as politely as I can if others would please stick to the question at hand, which is: technologies and markets that bear on Axion's -- and our -- futures.

"The Vegetarian Myth," ( http://amzn.to/Zq1y2J ) by what some on this board refer to disparagingly as a "greenie," Lierre Keith, analyzed the effects on soil of factory meat and row crop farming in 2009 and proposed a similar model, integrating livestock and gardening to preserve the soil, to which agribusiness will never acquiesce.

I find reactionary stereotyping of people who oppose corporate rapacity a little tiresome after a while, especially that arrogant confidence in one's ignorance that makes a person with too high an opinion of himself come across like a simple-minded fool.

It occurred to me that if industry appreciated the value of innovation adequately rather than trying to squeeze every last nickel from the status quo, regulations would hardly be necessary.

I find it annoying that some readers of this very informative article will blame lack of innovation on regulation when in fact milking the status quo elicits it.

    D:

At the risk of posting unsolicited advice, my recommendation would be to buy a couple thousand shares of a company that is on a roll. If your portfolio is making you money, even a few hundred or few thousand bucks, waiting for Axion probably will not bother you anywhere near as much.

    "You can't hurry love
No, you just have to wait
You got to trust, give it time
No matter how long it takes"

Earlier today this article was posted here. I opened it in a tab and only got to read it just now. (I've been amusing myself by watching the pps on my shares of MNKD skyrocket all day.)

    http://bit.ly/Z5FZpQ

My takeaway was this, which is pretty much what we have all been saying here for months:

"Without a technology breakthrough that brings down the cost of electric vehicles, the U.S. may have to settle for reducing, rather than ending, oil consumption."

I don't share the sense of urgency you seem to feel, LT.

All a matter of crystal ball gazing and opinion, of which I do not begrudge you yours.

Mine is that a magic bullet battery to run automobiles as we know them without ICE is not going to happen in the foreseeable future. Runabout EV's seem not to be giving OEMs nocturnal emissions, as their handouts all speak glowingly about swinging for the fences.

PbC's problem is not that time is running out. It is that AGM has captured the SS market, which means education, testing, and a certain amount of retooling will be required to set that straight.

We've worked our way fairly impressively down that path to this point. I strongly doubt anybody's EV car is going to disrupt the disruption we are working on.

"Batteries delivering this much power need an equally impressive cooling system. In the SLS Electric, two low-temperature cooling circuits ensure the conditions remain optimum. With a three-phase, 22-kilowatt charging system, the 60 kWh batteries can be charged in just three hours. With a normal plug, it takes around 20 hours. A full charge can take the SLS 155 miles."

I am getting tired of reading about $155,000 cars that depend on complexity of this order to perform.

And of course near the end of the article this happened:

"Amazing creations, such as the SLS Electric, are not immune to problems, however. As I exited a hairpin bend, the whistle from the motor stopped. I ground to a halt, with warning lights illuminating the dash in illegible German. From what little I could translate, it appeared to be a fault with the batteries.

"Despite the engineer’s obvious embarrassment, I showcased a grin from ear to ear. After all, who drifts an EV? But, with the SLS Electric going on sale in June, problems like this are worrying."

My own personal opinion of EV's: too expensive, too complex, not yet ready for prime time (if they ever will be).

Edit: Little suburban EV runabouts maybe; and light-weight personal transpo devices for city dwellers if practical overnight parking/charging infrastructure is developed.

    Excellent analysis, D.

Your insight wipes away the mystery surrounding the maddeningly delayed roll-out of NS 999:

Waiting for infrastructure with which to integrate, waiting for still-serviceable equipment to exhaust its lifespan.

For all we know, NSC is eyeballing Q1 2014 and feel like they have all the time in the world to get this done.

The takeaway for me is this is going to to get done.

As is BMW. As are all the other initiatives Axion has simmering. I like those charts that jump up $6 at the open. If AXPW does that 10 or 12 months from now, I will not be complaining about how long it took.

Interesting that the heavy metal guitars, which were entirely silent to that point, started screaming when the car started being cut apart.

    TB:

An article from the Washington Post, hardly a socialist propaganda sheet, about the effects of immigration on wages:

I hesitate to post this because it is OT. If you care to have a knock-down drag-out over it, there is probably a board devoted to this topic somewhere, and I am sure you can find any number of frothing madmen there to get into it with.
