I guess I could, but as an European "DG-guy" replicating a DG-Strategy (with US Stocks) comes with a twist (brokerage, fees, taxes, etc.). While there are some interesting European stock options currently, a soild data-set like the CCC does not exist.
Add in there a lack of experience with the financial market and the aversion to spend al lot of time in regards to ones investments and you end up with a young person desperately looking for this ETF.
Here's hoping that it someday will become reality.

The obvious interest in such an Index/ETF leads to the question on "how to do it".
As a new reader here on SA, I am thrilled bye the knowledge, competence and support of this community.
… an idea like the one proposed and discussed here needs a platform and the empowerment to grow.
Maybe setting up a dedicated project or using social media to rally the troops might be an option to get started? In the end it will come down to a motivated group or individuals to push the envelope.
While I cannot contribute on a contentual level, I am willing to support with any means possible.

A DG-ETF is exactly what I am looking for.
I'm in my late 20s and have some cash to invest and want continue to do so: Current ETFs don't fit my DG philosophy and I am not confident enough (+dont have the time) to invest in stocks directly.

That is exactly the point: people who do not want to or have the ability to keep their own agile DGI portfolio would still benefit from the "conservative" managed ETF.
It's the kind of product I would put money in and I would feel comfortable recommending to my mum.

Don't let this comment thread die down. There is a myriad of people that are on the lookout for a "real" DGI ETF. With the media recently jumping on the "dividend" bandwagon I just don't know why the financial industry hasn't caught on yet.

Any news form the "ETF industry?" … After a month on SA I still feel overwhelemd and scared to start my own stock portfolio (maybe I shouldn't). Anyway, the ETF DVK described with a SA-like board of directors managing the underlying index still feels like the way to go for me (and maaaaaany others).

Currency and tax losses "smooth out" the compounding, but it is still present exponentially. The "avarage reinvestment time" (=restarting with the initial yield each X-year) is what really causes the huge drawdown.

I had the same "magic moments" using 30-50 year charts. The resulting "hockey stick" curve looked amazing.
After adding in inflation, currency loss, and tax losses the chart got way flatter, but was still exponential.
However, after adding in an average holding time per position (after which the position is sold with about 5% capital appreciation p.a. factored in and a new position with the initial base yield is bought with that money) the chart got a lot flatter.
Based on my calculations holding time below 30 years make it nearly impossible to reach my retirement goals. The "holding time" of a position seems to have a tremendous impact on your long term income (or my calculations/formulas are just dead wrong).
The numbers I used (everything p.a.): initial yield 3%, DGR 9%, cap appr. 5%, inflation 3%, currency losses 20% (I'm a EU-based investor), tax losses 45% with a yearly invest of 30k and a retirement target income of 120k in todays buying power it would take me 39 years to reach my retirement goal WITHOUT avarage holding time factored in. If I add an avarage holding time of 30 years per position I would reach my goal after 48 years. Anything below 30 years holding time per position makes it impossible to reach my goal.
This can't be right, can it?
It would be great if you guys could run your spreadsheets with those numbers (or even better, publish your spreadsheets so that others can learn from them).

Thanks for the reply DVK and DF.
I understand your points. I wouldn't want anyone to follow my personal trades either. But wouldn't tools like this enable the community to build some sort of "DGI-ETF" that so many threads have been talking about?

Have some of you veteran DGIers like David FIsh, chowder, DVK et al. considered tools like http://covestor.com …?
The way I understand it, covestor basically allows you to start your own portfolio that others can "follow" for a small fee, which will replicate all trades on their accounts. A group or individual of the DGI community could put that into practice quite easily.
