    In the past ten years, DE reported total $17.7 B NI, but FCF is only $5.9 B, one third of NI. Accounting net income cannot be used to pay dividend and to buy back stock, only free cash flow can. So how DE paid dividend and bought back cash as if it had earned $17.7 B cash? Raising debt. The long term debt rose from $10.4 B in 2003 to $21.7B at the end of Q3 2013. At 10 times PE multiple, the stock looks cheap. But not if you exam the free cash flow.
