Earlier comment makes a very good point. The chart above made by Changeway Research has nothing to do with iPhone 3Gs and Palm Pre. It had a lot more to do with their old products that consumers only knew about.

iPhone 3Gs and the Palm Pre were released several days after June of 09. Not even I would have considered buying a Palm smartphone. However, the Palm Pre is a completely different smartphone that stands out from the rest.

If Changeway reran the survey 2-3 months from now, I'm sure those statistics would fluctuate considerably, especially with the new competitive Blackberry smartphones that could also have not been a factor in that survey.
