    How about a tax on hi speed trading? Something in the neighborhood of 70% of trades are now done this way. Sometimes thousands of trades per second. Say a tax of .10 per trade, would raise lots of money and have little effect on small retail traders.

    You have completely missed the advantage of the volt. The average car is driven less than 40 miles per day so many owners will very rarely need to purchase gasoline. However the Volt can be used for longer trips which the Leaf cannot. There is also the real issue of battery anxiety which would make most drivers very nervous. Is this my 47 mile day or my 138 mile day? No problem with the Volt, just keep going, engine will come on when needed. IMHO the Leaf has a very limited use profile not to mention who would want to dump seven to ten thousand into an old car when the batteries begin to fail?
