IMO, Melinda Gates is the person of the last decade by convincing Bill to part with a lot of his cash for very great humanitary causes. Hats off to both!

  • Wall Street Breakfast: BP To Spend $1B On Restructuring [View article]
As a former owner of shoe stores (women/men), Rockport was always the number 1 selling brand in all stores for men. Followed by New Balance, Clark's, Mephisto & believe it or not, SAS for older gents.

As for Merrill shoes, very comfortable on the foot but as time goes on you guys might need a bit more arch support as most of their styles tend to breakdown quicker than Rockports. Merrill boots have better arch support. In fact the primary problem with Rockports (as an owner) is they last too long.

An interesting tidbit, I found 80% of men are wearing the wrong size with almost always to short or narrow. Get your foot measured & get into the right sized shoe. I was a 10 in high school & now wear a 12. Your feet, nose, & ears grow your entire life while most other areas (other than stomach) tend to shrink. It doesn't matter how good a shoe is (support) if you don't have the correct size/width.

Also, to verify that you have sufficient arch support, grab a shoe, turn it upside down, put one hand on the heel & the other hand on the toe area and bend slightly. If the bend occurs at the arch, you might need new shoes especially if your feet hurt.

On April 2, 2015, Google will true up GOOG with GOOGL, a one time event. My guess is the 2 stocks will be close to $0 difference but it is a 1 time event & GOOG stockholders will be on their own after that. I am long GOOG but will sell & go with GOOGL when it gets closer to zero difference.

  • Wall Street Breakfast: European Shares Rally Ahead Of U.S. Jobs Data [View article]
sold my business in 2009 & had an ex-employee contact me in 2013 to resolve a discrepancy in SS dollars paid in 2006 that were not reflected in the actual SS Trust Statement. Only way I resolved the issue was that I still had payroll data, including SS number, for the employee. We had a SS discrepancy about once every 2-3 years so it is not as uncommon as one would think. Not sure if it is a requirement (law) to keep data but the employee was glad I had it.

  • NFL owners time to sweat? [View news story]
Players & teams do pay taxes. The NFL does not which is my issue with them. Also, a lot of stadiums were subsidized by taxpayers. Nothing like a 1/2 billion $ loan interest free for some of those lucky owners.

  • NFL owners time to sweat? [View news story]
IMO, NFL should not be a tax exempt entity. Although a lot of revenue is split with teams, which are not tax free, taxpayers should not subsidize the organization.
