iPads had a blowout qtr during the holidays of 2013. IPADs will have a blowout qtr during the holidays 2015 (this year). On the S cycle which is smart to do it that way.

gggl.... I only give you FACTS. Something that you don't subscribe too. You can continue with you daily politico bs which is mostly misleading.

You might want to do a little research on Depletion Allowances rather than jumping on your politically fueled anger. I have received oil/gas royalties (70's-90's) & I understand associated taxes. Do you? Guess what, my non royalty related income tax was less due to the tax.

What does iphone have to do with your lack of tax knowledge?

  • General Motors slides 3.1% on earning miss [View news story]
Agree Bret.... F is not a trading stock for me based on 1) entry price & 2) my perception of good growth in the future.

I think oil sector softness will also impact F-150 sales. Very, very popular in oil fields.

Not very optimistic in the short term (Q1 report).

gggl..... Depletion Allowance reduces taxes on royalties even while all other expenses to drill & maintain are treated as typical expenses.

Moxi... You are using old data. I'm using most current. If you use most current qtrly reports, your growth statement is misleading to those that may not know. Quit cherry picking dates & use current data like most investors rely on.

Moxi.... I see you are cherry picking dates while I use most current information. My info is correct & can easily be verified. Your info may be correct, not sure & don't care, if you compare 2 year old data.

Moxi.....Me too. Last qtr revs are below vs prior years qtr

    AAPL $ 74.599b vs 57.594b (prior year qtr) = 29.5% growth

    GOOG $ $ 18.103b vs 15.707b (prior year qtr) = 15.2% growth

Therefore, AAPL's rev growth was almost twice that of GOOG. Yes, GOOG's growth has slowed & APPL's has accelerated based on most recent data available.

    Get your facts straight.

    Long both.

Moxi... Incorrect on several, if not many, statements. Apple's revenue growth was up 29.5% y/y, actually more than Google's last report.

I can stream anything that's available on the net from my iPad, iphone, Mac to TV via Apple TV.

Your assumption for 4k support is just that, an assumption as you nor I know.

I'm not implying AAPL should enter content industry but simply pointing out that you have misleading info in your post.

  • American International Group: Finally On The Way To New 52-Week Highs? [View article]
I expect a good beat this qtr as its Hancock's 2nd report. The first one was a kitchen sink type deal & it appears most knew it as the stock reversed quickly & is setting new post 2008 highs.

    Good luck to all.

Deer... Same issue in Texas with Perry's initiative. New governor now & to be defunded. Wasteful seems to be concensus of new regime. Others have a bit tougher language from what I read.

Typically I'm a value investor but have learned through the years to allocate (10-15%) some to momo stocks (biotechs, FB/NFLX, etc).

That allocation has, over the years, yielded much more profits. Depends on your timing, of course.

  • April 11th - What A Difference A Week Makes.. Earnings Ahead ! [View instapost]
Fear, always look forward to your outlook. Very much appreciate you spending time & sharing your technical view as that is an area of weakness for me. I've learned to respect technicals but fundamentals seem to drive me most.

Good to see a bit more optimism. Me too. Funny how things change sooo quickly.

Like your HWAY pick as last 2 qtrs they are showing good EPS growth. Put on my watchlist. Another reason for interest in HWAY is as a pre 65 retiree, my wife & I are on an ACA policy & have been since start of 2014. To my surprise, about 18 months ago I started receiving calls from a "case manager" encouraging me to take advantage of preventive procedures/visits that are of no additional cost over the monthly premium (which is high but not the point). Both my wife & I fully embraced these procedures/visits. It is quite clear to me that medical health care is becoming much more efficient by really focusing on preventive practices that is a win win for the consumer & the health care companies (insurers, coordinators, facilities, physicians, etc etc). This is by no means a political stance but exactly how I see, myself, the change in the industry. It appears HWAY is part of the process that, IMO, will be standard going forward. Thanks for the pick.

Like your trucking pick. Sector has had good momentum. Own a small position in CGI. Wished it was a larger position when I bought it but I usually start small & add. Have not added since initial buy.

Due to optimism created by Monday's turnaround, I started another starter position (less than 1%) in XON. I also added to my position in BRK/B as it has under performed YTD. It is a top 5 position that has done well for me & certainly a long term hold.

Also, with the good movement in GE, it went from 5 to 3 position in my portfolio. Good to hear you are bullish on GE going forward. Me too!

This week the real earnings reports begin. I want to put more money to work as I am a bit more in cash than I like (about 19%). Plans are to wait until Tuesday morning before doing anything. Tues before bell we get JNJ, WFC, JPM. At this point & until proven otherwise, I tend to side on the position that strong dollar hits will be smoothed over even though, initially, that may not be the case. I think by 2-3 weeks from now, corps that have good numbers but got bruised by the $ will be fine assuming the economic data points during that period are good.

Under weight in individual bank stocks but nice position in XLF. Fines for individual banks bum me out but think they will be less (they have to be). Watching closely.

I am reading everything I can find on the millennial generation. What they are thinking, buying habits, etc. this generation (1982-2002 or so) is now larger than the baby boomers that are alive now & obviously will move the market beginning now & for as long as I am alive. My youngest son is an old millennial (1982) & I am very tuned into his young family of 4. Perhaps next week I will spend more time outlining this generation. I do recommend readers to take heed. What I will say today is they ARE NOT dumb & lazy as some portray.

Thanks Fear & let's all have a great week, month & year! I'm optimistic.
