  • Wall Street Breakfast: European Markets Fall Ahead Of Greek Meeting [View article]
WM.... Thanks for recommendation. Although I haven't seen the movie I read the summary on

Growing up in a small town with a large Hispanic population I can tell you they were "champs" in cross country during my school days. They dominated the area & state in the mile & 2 mile races. What was unbelievable is after finishing the race they weren't sweating or even breathing hard. Remarkable genetics for long distance races.

If you have Netflix I recommend a new release "Bloodline". Not a feel good story but, IMO, a very good drama.

  • Wall Street Breakfast: White House To Unveil Fracking Rules [View article]
Guys before you get too excited note that the ban is for FEDERAL property only. Which is not stated above.

I personally have no issue with horizontal fracking if done right. When not done right, it CAN & HAS polluted the air. Also, some well based accidents have pollotued water & soil. Problem is to regulate to ensure that its done right has to be extremely expensive on both energy corps & taxpayer.

IMO, local residents should be part of the decision making process as they pay local taxes & are most impacted (positively/negatively).

GM was simply doing what most all other consumer related corps (BAC, C, JPM, BP, AIG, PC manufactures, health insurance corps, hospitals, etc etc) were doing in between 2001-8. Not until we got a pro-consumer administration, justice department & ACA did things change. Of course, now, most are paying the price for their previous misdeeds. Perhaps they will think twice before they misbehave or one can at least hope.

Obviously contrary to popular opinion on this thread but it is what it is.

The market gets excited when the largest market cap company ever increases its revenue 29.5% YoY & EPS increased 48% yoy (both are highest in corp history in $ terms).

You don't have to buy or like AAPL but if you are an investor you have to at least acknowledge it's business savvy.

Obama did not give Chrysler away to Fiat. A price was provided by Fiat & Chrysler board accepted the offer. Some Fiat money was taken back for the taxpayer due to the bailout.

Via Apple AirPlay you can stream any type video available on the Internet (FB, YouTube, Yahoo, etc) to your TV if you have Apple TV. IMO, the future will be more than 1 offering but AAPL's business model is in a sweet spot once it does a deal with DIS/ESPN. NBC (Comcast) will eventually offer their content to offset declining revs.

Cable broadband is still required but wifi will begin to erode that business model in the not so far off future, IMO.

  • A Bear Market Is Unlikely In 2015 [View article]
Thanks for sharing your article. I agree that a correction is likely this year & the march upward will continue.

However, October 1987 brought us the largest single day (Oct 19th?) loss of >21% (S&P) ever before & since. The market was heavily over valued & the commentor above is correct that 87 was basically a wash until the subsequent 2-3 years. To simply say carry forward is not what happened in reality. Everyone that followed the market was scared as hell. If that were to happen now everybody would react the same, scared as hell.

Black Tea is an excellent choice. Some varieties pack a punch & is a good substitute for coffee. At my place, black when I wake, green tea after lunch & Sleepytime white tea after supper.

Good for teeth/gums, so they say.

  • Digital Downloads Will Hurt GameStop Sooner Or Later [View article]
GameStop is quickly diversifying its revenue stream. I do not disagree on your download thesis, however they are much more than just games. The CEO knows what is going on in the gaming sector & has taken steps, as far back as 4 years ago, to diversify.

A look at their financials over the last 5 years indicates a much leaner & profitable entity. Low p/e, great 3+% dividend & greater margins. I would guess a bunch of the shorts, not all, are just focusing on games which is their largest revenue stream but that is changing daily. Additionally, partnering with AT&T in regards to RadioShack stores is a very savvy move, IMO. Definitely on my watchlist. Currently, no position.

  • Kroger: A Retail Play That Is Better Than Costco [View article]
    Thanks for sharing your article.

There is a Kroger just blocks from my former home. In the late 90's I refused to shop there as the quality of perishables continued to go down. Therefore it was never on my radar list of stocks to watch. Obviously a mistake. Not sure what happened but they do run an impressive chain now.

Costco & Kroger compliment each other in my opinion and I would think one would shop at both for different items. The Costco I go to continues to attract more & more folks each time I shop. Long COST & wish I had been long Kroger. On watch-list.

I do agree WMT may have lost some customers to Kroger.
