  • Is The Fed Buying Stocks? [View article]
Sorry Larry, don't believe stock buybacks are that large in scale & they have to have assets for collateral. Not buying your theme at all. Sure there will be a correction & you will be able to say your right, but when will it be? It's been a great 6 years & I hope you have been a part of the party.

  • The Federal Gas Tax Should Be Eliminated [View article]
Agree with author on eliminating gas tax as money collected doesn't necessarily go to road infrastructure.

During the election last year our governor elect said he would repair our roads without raising taxes or tolls by simply using the taxes collected to be used for what the tax was initially enacted to do.

The city in which I reside, increased sales tax by 1/2 cent 5 years ago for road repair & I have not noticed any improvements in city roads.

  • Is The Fed Buying Stocks? [View article]
If all this behind the scenes conspiracy themes are occurring, why is the S&P P/E just a bit higher than historical valuation. Are the Feds also pumping profits into corps?

STE (just researched) is definitely in a great area of infection management as it is a very high priority for facilities that perform surgical procedures. Put on watchlist. Thanks for responding. I also have THC & HCA on watchlist.

Agreed SA is about investing. Why respond to Kappaseek about her post (she didn't mention the environmental this post) & not respond to numerous fiwiki2 anti-liberal rants? Just asking.

Thanks Fear, always enjoy your articles.

For the first time in 6 years I am not as confident about my investments at the beginning of the year. I am mostly value oriented strong fundamentals type investor.

Although I exited my oil/gas holdings (except HAL, ouch!) in July/August, the quick price erosion in oil is a bit stunning & I am not comfortable with what will & won't be winning sectors.

If you look at Consumer Discretionary sector, a lot, especially restaurants, are pricey. DIS could be a good play but, again, high PE but great company. No position in a sector that should outperform. May just do an ETF. Not sure.

Weeks ago I was more bullish on Financial sector & thought it could be a great year for large cap banks. However, I have thought that every year since 2009. Long SYF, BAC, C, BRK-B, AIG, & GE (GE Capital portion).

Tech & Healthcare are my 2 largest sector holdings & feel good with current holdings (AAPL, BABA, MU, GOOG, FB, MSFT, HPQ, QCOM, NFLX) (GILD, JNJ, AET, CI, NPSP, AKBA, VSTM). Looking for a good hospital play, any suggestions from anyone would be appreciated.

Industrials like (GE, UTX, BA, F, GM).

I agree that VZ could be a contrarian pick & have it on my watchlist.

  • TheStreet Is Poorly Positioned In Media: Subscription Revenue Is Not Sustainable [View article]
    Good article Alex. Thanks.

Not a shareholder. I avoid the site as it has sooooo many advertisement graphics that it's like playing a game where you try to "not" touch on an advertisement due to the many banters that suddenly appear. I always lose. Also, puts a 1/2 page worth of info spread out over 4 pages to increase the likelihood of "accidental click".

  • Wall Street Breakfast: European Stocks Soar On QE Expectations [View article]
I upgraded to a 6 from 5 & total cost for the phone was $40 after trade-in. If you upgrade, in my case/plan, every 2 years it is much cheaper than waiting unless one feels $20 per year is too much. It did cost an additional $40 for AT&T to upgrade their data to recognize/register the new phone. Also, spent $45 for protector which is obviously optional. The 6 easily goes in my pocket. The phone is absolutely amazingly fast with new A9 chip. Worth the upgrade for me personally.

  • My Bet Is That Microsoft Will Outperform Apple In 2015 [View article]
Thanks for article. Hold both AAPL & MSFT. It would not surprise me if MSFT outperforms AAPL in 2015. Invested in MSFT due to cloud opportunities not at all for Windows as Windows was the reason I invested in AAPL years ago.

Very good article. Thanks for sharing. Have both MSFT & JNJ but have been waiting several years for NKE to go lower to my dismay. Same with UA. Expect GE to have a better 2015. GLTA.
