  • Wall Street Breakfast: General Electric In Talks To Sell Appliance Business [View article]
Blue.... ACA doesn't impact any business until 2015 so your assertion that it does is incorrect. Even in 2015, businesses with less than 50 employees will not even be required anything additional over prior years. Credits are provided, NOW, to small businesses that DO offer health care insurance through employment. That is a win-win for small businesses.

In fact, small businesses, once they understand ACA policies & rid themselves from political propaganda, will have greater freedom to determine (choose) what is best for their business & employees. Low paid employees will be able to get insurance policies that are much less expensive than what is offered through their employer. As an ex-owner of retail stores, I can assure that what was offered via non-ACA policies several years ago were too expensive for 90% of my employees. Now those type employees can get affordable individual insurance policies.

Constant inaccurate info concerning ACA will not be the demise of a much needed health care plan for all. It's not going away as the earliest possible repeal would be in 2017. By then, most folks will understand the REAL facts, not propaganda that most hear today. My wife & I have an ACA plan & it is awesome! We get no subsidies.

Tea.... Do you have an ACA policy? I assume you don't or you would have stated such. Prior to ACA, health care insurance rates varied wildly from state to state for individual policies. I reside in a state that is very pro business (includes insurance companies) & not so much pro consumer. I am saving $800 a month in premiums over last year ($9600) & in fact saving more than $3000 additional this year for preventative procedures (annual physical for 2, colonoscopy for 2, mammogram for 1) that are at no cost to the consumer.

The only way I will ever pay more over 2013 policy costs is if both my wife & I have a surgery with hospital stay in the same year. Out of pocket maximum is high at $6000 a piece. Deductible is $1500.

There is a lot of misinformation on costs & quality of ACA policies. In terms of doctor participation in ACA plans, we have not had any problems with existing docs or those that perform specialty services. My son & brother are doctors & initially they were anti ACA but have since embraced the policy due to increase in patients. They do, however, still gripe about it but both indicated that they are having a record year in terms of revenue.

The pendulum swung too far to the right in terms of health care cost since 2000. ACA is pulling it back to a more balanced position with high quality & low cost policies. Price increases in the future for policies? Most probable as they have risen every year in the last 15.

Blue.. Yep, kept every doc & I am thrilled with the ACA policy my wife & I have. Better coverage and lower premiums. Expect to save $10k this year (over last year) with no subsidies. ACA in no way is negatively impacting the economy and in fact, I believe it will be a net benefit now & going forward.

If you are paying fines because you won't buy health insurance then, you sir, are the problem.

Location is, as always, the primary piece. Things doing well in DFW area & there is no slow down at all. Gundlach is short home builders & although I'm not invested in a home builder stock, he thus far not been that profitable since he put the position on. Not sure about high yield bonds but would guess it has been a profitable short.

  • Michael Kors: Undervalued And Has 25% Upside [View article]
    Victor thanks for article.

I agree with Rickraff, this stock has been majorly manipulated, IMO. Herb Greenburg has been so negative on this stock. KORS attorneys contacted them & indicated that what Greenburg was saying was incorrect & demanded an apology which he half-heartedly did on the air and in text. The damaged has already been done with the attorneys getting involved.

As a retail investor that was long on KORS for 18 months I am disgusted with what I believe was manipulation. Sold @ $80 (all shares) as I believe its a broken stock now, technically. Made some money but left a bunch on the table.

Quite a bit better than George W's rating in 2006 - 31% favorable.

Very common for the 6th year of a 2 term president.

Clinton & Reagan struggled in their 6th year also.

    Remember Nixon's 6th year?

"BofA did nothing wrong other than try to help Obama during the financial crisis by buying Countrywide mortgages, which the government begged them to do. Countrywide was a fraudulent enterprise."

    Rewriting history again?

BoA purchased Countrywide in 2008 when Ken Lewis was the bank's CEO. Obama had absolutely nothing to do with the buyout & was not a president until 2009.

On a seasonal basis, the time to buy retail stocks is NOW thru early Oct. Can take profits in Feb-March 2015. Happens nearly every year although with this being an election year, the timing of the purchase may come a bit later in Oct.

    Look at M at $44 Oct 2013.

Samsung indicated Dram was the highest growth segment & they are increasing capacity to address the growth anticipated for the foreseeable future. They also indicated 2 weeks ago that they were increasing DRAM prices 10% (which bumped MU stock price). Don't think they changed their mind on pricing in the last 2 weeks. IMO, this will not be an issue until well into 2015, simply a short term negative reaction. $4 EPS (annually) soon.

MU is a strong buy at a price < $30.

  • Update: General Electric's Synchrony Financial IPO Is Good To Go [View article]
Scottrade indicates a $ 2.62 eps with no additional info in terms of revenue, etc. Yahoo has n/a for all financial measurements. If $ 2.62 is true, I'm not saying it is, that would be a p/e of 8-9 at current price 22.87. Anyone else find any measurements?

Even though I recall management indicating IPO by the end of July, I would like more transparency of the deal should anyone have additional info.
