Penn West Cuts Distribution, But Does Management Have Any Credibility? [View article]
In my hunble opinion, I think PWE is one of the most undervalued stock in the oil patch. Guess I just like living in reality...and everything they have said coincides with what I know is true. Yes, I think they have credibility...and if they don't then it really points out to me what is wrong with this market.
Cramer's Lightning Round - Packaging Is on Fire (9/9/09) [View article]
I heard this Lightning Round...and evidently Cramer thinks BEXP is all about ng. What BEXP is about is a really fine e&p company that's developing the Bakken in an exceptionally intelligent manner. It might behoove Cramer to look into this company a little further and see just what a potential it represents.
There are times when the CEO is the guy that makes a company worth owning...and personally, I feel this is one of those times. If Aubrey goes...I go. In the oil patch you have to have a guy at the helm that understands the business, and I for one am a little upset at the demonization going on around this deal. There are a few big guns out there who would just love to bring him down.

The problem is that it makes sense...and somehow our government and/or the ordinary person just doesn't get it...They'd rather wear themselves out and break the bank fighting for windmills...like DonQuixote...not that I have anything against windmills. There is just a little problem with technology/costs/viabi... for the whole nation/etc. etc. etc. People just don't get natural gas ... and that's a real shame.
And if you want to think ahead, take a look at what each one is doing! i.e. MMP taking advantage of the biofuel sentament with a proposed pipeline just for ethanol...Each MLP is very different from another. You have to get to know these guys, and you'll love 'em
Energy Trusts at Risk of Distribution Cuts - Scotia Capital Analyst [View article]
I'm beginning to think that if you want to be in the oil patch...get ready to pick up some of these things real cheap...and get ready for a very interesting ride. It's time to make a decision. There's ng in US and these things up in Canada. It just may be that you'll be able to pick up some of these for a few dollars...hold them for a couple of years and see what happens. The way the economy is going no one knows what will work - so if you like the oil patch...this is about as good as it gets - US ng. Way to go.
Don't forget MMP, MWE, HEP, BPL, and on and on and on...each has its own story...but all are being caught in the fire sale of hedge funds right now...There are a few that you have to watch, but check out their numbers and you should find some real diamonds in the MLP group.
Obama Goes Full Court on Energy Legislation [View article]
The only hope we have in this country is that all these "dreamwork" legislations will have to go through a review for "sanity"...I sure hope there's a little sanity out there to make sense of them because if there's not ... hold onto your hats everyone...this could be a very long trainride to no man's land. Neither side is making any sense. You have to understand a problem before you can fix it.
I've felt that the US has not had or understood its need for energy...so many people I know just seem to think it's their right to free energy in whatever form...no one bothers to ever get in there and really check the figures/implications etc. I'm glad to see articles like this...but wish they could be read and understood by the general public. Until that happens...until every day people understand what's at stake I can only hope that the dedicated people who keep us going...keep on truckin'

Income Trusts, as far as I'm concerned are about as safe as anything out there except for 30 yr. US Treasury's, it's an insane time to be in the markets so the best thing to do is to find the insanity that suits you best. Since I've been through this for so long with Canada, guess I'm getting used to being battered about. Temporary shelter....good book by the way..
