To a great extent Krugman's view is congruent with yours. I thuink you misrepresenting him as optimistic about recovery. He has his very real concerns, some of which, mirror yours quite closely. Although these concerns might not have been highlighted in his latest opinion piece, you'll find them in his body of work over the last 10 or so years.
