  • FRBNY Bill Dudley says it will be 3-4 months before the Fed will have a sense of how the economy is responding to fiscal drag and can decide whether to reduce (or expand?) asset purchases. Speaking to Bloomberg, Dudley says the FOMC has yet to get to a point of agreeing on a strategy for cutting back QE. Three-four months? ...   • Shares of Intuitive Surgical (ISRG -11%) plunge at the close on news that it's being probed by U.S. regulators over the safety of its robots. The regulators have contacted surgeons at key hospitals, requesting that they list any complications they may have seen with ISRG's surgical robots. [View news story]
    At my institution the surgeons who use DaVinci do 1-3 robotic cases a day and operate 1-3 times a week. So they get that experience in about 30 weeks or so, but I'm at a larger place.

  • Beige Book And Revised GDP Make More QE Unlikely [View article]
    I agree. Most of QE3 appears to have been priced in. More downside potential unless there is something with real 'wow factor' that is substantially different than QE1&2. With revised GDP and plus/minus Beige book, I don't expect much on Friday with markets reacting negatively to the no new news.
