  • Pay hike for J.C. Penney's CEO [View news story]
How about the employees that were let go? We went through pay freezes, our hours were cut but our work load was increased, benefits were cut. I was let go after 30 years because my position was eliminated but yet it was brought back less than a year after I was let go! We should have be able to return to the same positions that were supposedly eliminated. If Mike was brought back bring us back!

  • J.C. Penney to open stores Thanksgiving night [View news story]
Why do the employees have to pay the price of the idiots that sent the company under, as im sure Ron and his gang will all be vacationing in the bahamas for the holidays. How is this gonna help business they are gonna have to mark merchandise down so low or give it away !
Where's the profit?? Do they even have money or credit to buy enough merchandise to take them through . I worked there last year and black friday was a joke they ran out of all the ad merchandise within the first 2 hours and customers weren't happy , they did not stay to see what else we had they went to the larger stores in the mall once they paid for there ad items if they were able to find any left. Talk about showing how desperate they are!!

  • The emergency plan: If J.C. Penney (JCP) loses its courtroom battle to sell Martha Stewart home goods inside of its stores, the retailer will reportedly look to Asian suppliers to produce an emergency line of private label bath products, bed linens and kitchenware to fill the void. The trick is that production could take 75 to 90 days and the company would have to takes losses on quite a bit of inventory. [View news story]
He thinks he is above all because he worked for Apple ! He shouldn't have purchased all the merchandise before he knew the deal was done and he should have done it honestly. Martha and RJ have one vision and that is the adding zeros to there bank accounts.

  • J.C. Penney: Bargain Or Bust? [View article]
don't kid yourself they have had price increases for the past couple weeks to get ready for the supposed sales they are having, if you haven't noticed it then you are Ron Johnsons kinda of customer. Went in and the jeans I looked at 2 weeks ago were 20 dollars now they are 25 and tops that were 15 are not 20. Go in and check the ticket you will see new price stickers . Some clothing had marked up stickers and they didn't even cover the old prices which were much lower priced.

  • Heard during J.C. Penney's (JCP) talk at the BofA Consumer & Retail Conference: 1) Self-funding seem to be in the playbook as the company says it aims to take non-core assets and use them as a source of cash. 2) "Lots of opportunities" on the expense side. 3) A bit of a brain teaser after CFO Ken Hannah discloses 30% of store employee hours is "non-selling" hours. 4) On attracting core customers who fled JCP,  expect more "gifts"  and an adjustment to the retailer's assortment. 5) Mistakes are admitted - but tactics are adapting for the "multi-year" journey. JCP +3.6% on the prospect of selling assets and the lack of any bombshell. (webcast), slides[View news story]
Its to bad the employees are paying for his arrogant moves. He has gone back on his word on every thing he shoved down our throats at the beginning of the year. Stores are running on teenage skeleton crews because of all the lay offs. I think he is getting rid of all employees who have shown loyalty to this store for many years. If they call shoving credit applications, forcing the customers to look for someone to ring them up, and having to order online because there is not enough merchandise in the store good customer service then there is something wrong with this company.

  • Dirt was flying back and forth in a New York City courtroom where attorneys from Macy's (M) are battling with their counterparts from J.C. Penney (JCP) and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia  (MSO) over a breach of contract claim. Though most of the bantering was over the finer points of the Macy's-JCP shops contract, evidence on e-mails sent out by JCP CEO Ron Johnson delivered an interesting anecdote. When push comes to shove at the retailer, it appears RJ talks strategy with Bill Ackman. [View news story]
I work at jcp and I don't see business escalating and now with all the construction going on half the store is even more empty. Come on do we really need Martha Stewart so much that we have to spend time and money on that battle.

  • J.C. Penney (JCP) is asking manufacturers to artificially inflate prices on merchandise so that the retailer can tag the items with its "lower" prices, according to inside sources. Though it can't be the first time in retail the trick has been pulled, it still smacks of desperation as JCP looks to turn around its vanishing same-store sales. [View news story]
seems that is why the stores are so low in merchandise right now they are waiting for all the new over priced merchandise to come in so they can sign it a a fare and square price. PLEASE doesn't he think his customers will notice this. Please Ron give your consumers some credit....
