  • Can AT&T Save Your Retirement Portfolio? [View article]
Interesting responses. Guess it depends on who you know. And keep in mind I'm talking about a young couple starting out today, not today's 50 yr. old. Out here on the west coast the young people I know in their early careers spend most of their income on living expenses - high rent or mortgage, child care, food, gas for the long commute, in some cases student loans, etc. These are not BMW drivers more the Toyota crowd. Saving as they can, yes, but I still think the 400k at 45 for today's young family is more the exception than the rule. Obviously not impossible (good job to Damnyoumarket!), but harder than when my husband and I did it.

A 45 year old couple with a savings of $400k?! Really wanted to read the rest of the article but just couldn't get my brain past that VERY unlikely scenario for today's young adults.

Thank you. My post was in response to the authors statement "including, as I understand, a significant special dividend announced in December and paid out in January". If he is referring to 2 years ago, I have to question his research methods.

    Am I misunderstanding your statement?

There was a special dividend in Jan. 2013 at .10/share. I am a current shareholder and have not seen a recent special dividend. What are you referring to?

Just listened to conference call. Did anybody hear mention of the dividend? If so, I missed it.

  • Coca-Cola's Fairlife Milk Drink Has 'Masterbrand' Potential [View article]
I dont believe that will be good enough for this new generation of purists. The commitment to organic amongst young families is adamant and they will and do pay up for it. I hope I'm wrong but I see the target demographic as walking right by this product.

    Thoughts?

I am a KO investor and cheering on this new venture. My concern is that, as far as I can see from the info I've read on Fairlife, it is not organic or GMO free. Most young people I know, through my 2 kids who are personal trainers and health advocates, will not touch anything not organic or GMO free.

Tomlos, your use of Horizon shows an inclination toward organic, what is your take on this?

Thank you for the perspective. I will watch that low. Fortunately I do own some of the 'best' and they have certainly protected my portfolio lately. A shame to see their gains sucked up by LNCOs losses! Who said your first loss is your best loss? Yup!

Gene, question from a LNCO "bag holder". With a 60% loss of capital, should I wait it out and hope for some down the line (pun intended) recovery, or suck it up and bail?

Thanks Doug, that gives some perspective. Also like the comment on Ventas as I am looking at that also! Love this SA community, investing some cash has fallen on my shoulders and relish all the comments from those who have working experience. BTW, don't need the income just yet, so I'm thinking patience is in order.

Guys, help me understand something. Consensus is O is not a buy at today's prices. I understand that for adding to an already existing holding (of O). But what about someone with cash that should be invested? Do you think O is a contender for current investment dollars? I lean toward preservation of cash and DGI.
