  • Gilead: Like Watching Paint Dry In 2015 [View article]
Shareholders are delighted that GILD's Harvoni and Sovaldi have cured tens of thousands of ill people worldwide; but that is not the reason most have invested in the company. We make charitable contributions to organizations that are improving the world we live in. However, more to your point BH, paint does ultimately dry, and in a reasonable period of time. Will the same be said for GILD stock?

Great question Shake52. I too had a sizeable position in BX. I added to that position throughout the first half of 2015 since all I heard or read was good news. I was waiting for that good news to translate into price appreciation, but that never occurred. Then, their Board cut the wonderful distribution on lower revenue. I no longer wonder about when the good news will get baked into share appreciation since I sold my shares last month at a loss!!

As I have said in other is the "same old, same old" for GILD. Good news, no movement. Bad news, 3% downslide. Yes, if you bought and held 4 years ago you will have made money. However, if you are in for only the past two years, it is clear that there were much better opportunities. Management is handsomely paid and a miniscule dividend and stock buyback is the "reward" for loyal investors. How long will management take to find a viable acquisition target? Mr. Icahn, where are you?

  • Wells Fargo, DOJ disclose mortgage-related settlement [View news story]
WFC is a well-managed bank, with a wonderful brand. I have been a buy (accumulator) and hold shareholder for years. Having said that, I wonder if you would be spewing that venom if you were one of the homeowners that lost their home amid the scams going on between 2008/2009 - 20012? They likely feel as though WFC has gotten off cheaply.

Agree with you 100%. If the stores do not make money (which I believe they will), then money will be made by the residual benefits cited in your comment. "If the right one doesn't get you then the left one will"

AMZN one of several companies that are changing the world in which we live.

  • Gilead Sciences Stock Isn't Sexy [View article]
"Gilead should be heading much higher".....WHEN???

I've waited more than 2 years and other than some chump change from a small dividend, I've watched the overall market profit from handsome gains while I have marched in place.

I agree with the author..... GILD needs an acquisition, and needs it soon.

While I appreciate the author's POV, as well as the POV of many commenters, I own stocks to make money, not to marvel in the performance of a company that consistently beats analyst estimates and the company's own guidance, yet continues to trade in a very narrow yoyo manner. Whatever the reason, GILD's stock price never trades to the accolades that it gets. For me, I have had enough and think there are better money-making opportunities out there in the near term.

  • My Thoughts On Gilead Sciences' Capital Raise [View article]
Wonderful suggestion in this well-thought out article. GLD needs to shed the "one trick pony" label that has been placed on it. Diversifying into new space with an appropriate acquisition is precisely what the company needs to propel its value for its shareholders.
