I have both EOI and ETY in my portfolio and I am starting to be very concerned about the volatility of the shares mostly on a downside market....3-4% in daily losses is not uncommon...I have cut my exposure in these two cef's in half and will most likely eliminate one of them tomm....too volatile for my taste....

Personally, I would stay away from DSE....that mlp space is way to volatile for a fixed income investor....watch the price of oil as that has been the catalyst for the recent downturn...it's gone down from the 90's to 84-85....and possibly lower in the nearterm...my opinion...

Alan...DSE is hooked into the energy space and that entire sector was the worst performing this week...there are individual stocks down 20% plus...

Alan....DSE isn't the only one...For the week EOI was down 4.1% ETY down 2.7% and my best one was PDI down only .6%....no one mentions how volatile these CEF's are in a down market....kind of gut wrenching for an income investment if you ask me...I plan on cutting back on the CEF space because of this...

  • Equity CEFs: A September To Forget [View article]
CEF's are not for the weak....for the week EOI was down 4.1%....ETY was down 2.7% and PDI was down .6%....The S&P was down 3.2%...my point is while they generate income, they get very volatile in down markets....I lightened up on these three a couple weeks ago and may cut back even more because of the down market volatility....buyer beware...it's real...

I think the risk has shifted from company specific to the price of oil....I for one see it going to sub $80.....that alone has shifted my interest in the e&p sector
