  • An easy solution to the Euro Crisis
Of course there is no easy solution. However I offer an out of the box approach that would be politically palatable and also executable with long term benefits. Quite simply The Euro should be a two tier currency. The weaker economies would issue/use a Euro B or "Baby Euro" pegged at a fixed amount to the existing Euro (Or Euro A) Greece, Ireland etc... could elect to change thier currency to the Euro B. Over night for personal and business accounts 2 Euro B would be exchanged for each Euro previously held. For bond holders and holders of government debt the exchange would be one Euro B for each previous Euro, effectively a 50% "haircut". The advantages of thie solution are:
The Euro zone survives, with countries able to remain in a Euro mechanism. As the Euro B is pegged to the Euro, this is still factual.
Weaker economies are able to become more competitive and use export led growth etc...
    Odinary citizens savings are unaffected.
Countries would eventually be able to opt into the Euro A option from the Euro B as their economy stregthens etc.
Whilst simplistic, the approach advocated is practical food for though and could form the backbone of a more comprehensive solution.

Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours.

  • why is GE moving up
Why is GE moving up so fast?
What we see from the charts is potential further price momentum to $20, the 5 and 10 day MA are both rising as well as the RSI is also in an uptrend and there is a earnings conference call coming up.see chart below;range=3m;indicator=sma(5,10)+ema(5)+ke_it+volume+rsi(10);charttype=line;crosshair=on;ohlcvalues=0;logscale=on;source=undefined

Theories for the upward price trend include traders using GE as an alternative for trading the Dow, global recovery etc...
I am wondering if there will be asset sales, a dividend increase or major announcement soon
What's also interesting is comparing GE share price gain to similar industrial companies, over the last year GE is under performing, however GE is now about on par over the last 6 months in share price gain.
