  • Xiaomi Escalates The Ecosystem Battle: Negative Read-Through To Apple And Google [View article]
Some Macs are made in the USA, some iPhones in Brazil, and ALL of Apple's products are designed and managed by Apple in Cupertino.

  • The Contagion From The Imploding Oil Market Spreads [View article]
I agree that this is political - very political. President Obama is hitting four birds with the same stone, using Reagan's playbook to punish Russia for their move against the Ukraine, but also to decimate the wealth of the Koch brothers (reducing them to a third rate power), pulling the financial rug out from under the feet of ISIS, and also hurting the oil companies, who have been a thorn in his side. The general public (including Democrats) have underestimated Obama, but this is a huge move by a very smart guy, and we'll be reading about it once people figure out what happened.

  • Apple Approaches Price Target Too Quickly [View article]
Law of large numbers has nothing to do with your thesis. You don't seem to be very well read, and I really REALLY question something like this when the author isn't familiar with common knowledge. I ran into something the other day that contained: "his work didn't pass mustard"... the article obviously not edited, and written by an author without basic knowledge of our language. Same thing except more so, since this "law of large numbers" has been explained over and over and over again throughout this community.

  • iPhone Surging, iPad Collapsing - Apple May Be Near Its Peak [View article]
He isn't dense, he's angry and frustrated. Apple destroyed his beloved Blackberry and he wants revenge. He's taking it out on Apple shareholders, who he hates with a black raging passion, and if he can cause anguish by trash talking Apple, he will because he can, because SA has enabled him to do so. But it's all just schadenfreude; he gets an emotional charge when he thinks he's caused pain concerning Apple. That's all it is, just schadenfreude. He isn't stupid, just twisted. And he's doing it in public, which is unusual.

  • Q4 Will Show Just How Stagnant Apple Earnings Really Are [View article]
ij shearer... A note. Richbar has been negative on Apple for a number of years now, and I believe he and MB share the same agenda. It's schadenfreude, driven by their anger at Apple and Apple supporters. In MB's case it grew out of his notion that Apple destroyed Blackberry, but I don't know about Richbar - he's kind of a mystery. I know he thinks that Pitney Bowes is a far better investment than Apple (more mystery!), but his operational agenda is really the same; to upset people and relish that upset. Schadenfreude, pure and simple.

SC is doing just fine, thank you. You want someone like Scully back in there? Huh? Didn't think so. He's managing the largest company on the planet that has many, many diverse moving parts, and he's doing it very very well. One or two hiccups is nothing.

It is incredible how many people don't look things up before publishing. "Law of Large Numbers" indeed.

  • Apple Shares Are Ripe For A Pullback - Time To Take Profits [View article]
@ tstreet... His numbers are wrong, for reasons I stated above. There has been no drop in profitability, only in how profitability was lumped into one year for accounting reasons.

  • Apple Shares Are Ripe For A Pullback - Time To Take Profits [View article]
@Analytics: disingenuous response. The market share comparison IS comparing "dumb phones", since any phone that isn't being used on the internet is a dumb phone whether or not it has the ability to get on the internet. If the person using the phone doesn't know what the internet is, the phone he or she is holding is in fact, dumb in the original sense - it can't communicate because it's human "interface" doesn't know how to push the right buttons.

Wait, there's more! When Apple's profits were highest was when they changed accounting methods, which you conveniently didn't mention, but which crammed YEARS of profits from the iPhone and recognized them over a relatively short period of time. Apple had shelved those profits in a very conservative manner, and then decided they didn't need to be all that conservative, and recognized the profits, throwing their profit margin for a short period of time WAY higher than normal. If that profit had been recognized from the get go THERE WOULD BE NO DROP IN PROFITABILITY. You need to do your homework, fella, before you write stuff that is just plain WRONG.

  • Apple Is A Luxury Brand And That Is The Problem [View article]
drax7 - In one sentence you have said everything that these yahoos don't get about Apple.

It actually costs money to spend the years it takes to develop products with the complexity of an iPhone or Apple Watch that work well - and that costs money... but in the end it saves money for the end user. I've been on Macs since the "Fat Mac" - and I haven't had antivirus software installed since the middle 1990s. I have never ever had a Mac go down such that it could not be repaired, and I have never had to "fight" the user interface the way PC users have always done. Because Apple products just work. Period. And that makes them far and away less expensive to own and operate.

I say "lies" because anyone writing a piece with this much information has to know the true - no "hiding" behind the pretense of ignorance.

I should have added... I can imagine many investors adding to existing positions at once it breached $100 going up, but those are just add-on positions, perhaps 5% of their total AAPL holdings - not enough to cause concern for anybody.
