They started this when they started offering IOX updates for free and it increased when they started offering OSX and the Mac software apps for free.

That is in the cash flow, but not in reported revenue. PO said about $8 mill of that will flow through to bottom line over next 4 quarters.- backloaded I believe.

Companies who report using non GAAP and EBIT are overvalued POS, but wall street loves them. Aples free cash flow is the same as the market cap of darling NFLX. MSFt doubled tablet sales to $800 mil, but no mention of the $900 mil write off of the prior quarter. Apple generated more rev from its iPads than MSFT did from tablets. Apple should just buy down the stock and go private.

  • Apple's CEO Discusses F1Q 2014 Results - Earnings Call Transcript [View article]
Not sure who or what they would buy. They could replicate NFLX for a lot less than $22 billion Market cap. Have a much larger customer base. Payments i another area, but revenue spool up would be slow. Maybe buy Duck Duck go and go after Google in search and advertising. Hardly any acquisition will make a dent in revenue or profits, hence the focus on new product development. If there was any justice in the court system, Android would be crippled. I am hopeful the ORCL vs Google verdict will be overturned and ORACLE denies GOOG copyright use and forces a Android re write. If Apple could get any justice in the Samsung cases, it could go after the other infringers, who would have to pay up or stop because the smaller guys couldn't afford to litigate. Would like to see a game box that would attack MSFT X-Box. MSFT sold over 7 million X-boxes in Q4. Of course that is peanuts compared to 26 million ipads.

  • 3 Residential REITs Yielding More Than 14% To Fight Future Inflation [View article]
I just initiated a strategy selling DIM covered calls to protect my downside while reaping a yield. Net investment was $18.10 for which I get up to $4.75 dvds before I am clled away in Jan. if divi is cut by 50% my return is still 13% on the amount I have invested for an 8 month hold. Am I missing something?

  • Amazon Should Post Strong Results, But Sales Tax Impact In Question [View article]
Wait until the unions get into the distribution centers. Bezos has been using the investing in infrastructure for so long new, it is wearing thin. But rationality lest this stock long ago. I've lost money on the long side and short side. May play earnings with a butterfly on put and call side hoping for a big move one way or the other. Hard to say when the bubble bursts. Bezos has never and will provided clarity on KF sales. Office Depot selling for $159. With a 30% mark up AMZN must net only about $120. Got to be negative GM on those ones. Best trade is intraday options, if you've got the stomach and the skills., otherwise may be best to stand clear.

  • Amazon Earnings Preview: 5 Metrics To Watch [View article]
Why would they buy back at the top? Fewer shares outstanding makes the loss per share look bigger. I am amazed AMZN makes any money. I ordered about $100 worth of several products with free shipping in Nov. Shipping amounted to about $35. Most were products with low margins because they were already 50% off list. AMZN PX can often be beat at and BBY price match is convenient. I can order on line and pick up same day, if I want.

Suggest you read note 2 to the 10Q balance sheet.
So much bogus information put out without going to the source document. Grew cash in CY 2012 by $40 billion after paying about $5 billion in dividends and buying back $2 billion in stock.

It is in China's interest for Apple to grow in China. Million plus jobs at stake and surely Apple jobs pay better than ZTE,Huawai and Lenova who likely violate all of the employment standards that Apple is held to.

  • Apple Investors Should Be Wary Of The Next Shoe To Drop [View article]
Managers make mistakes. Jobs hire Papermaster and fired him. Why can't TC be allowed to make and correct his mistakes. If you hire someone who doesn't meet expectations, then cut him sooner rather than later. Has anyone considered that Forstall maybe felt it was time to leave - after a while 12-15 hour days take a toll. All of this speculation to spread FUD.
