  • Nokia Confirms It's Keeping An Open Mind About Using Android In Future [View article]
HavenĀ“t you noted yet that this was an erroneuous translation of Mr. Elops statement, from English to Spanish and back to English.

  • Is Microsoft Getting Desperate? [View article]
Sorry, but Mr. Elop did not say that Nokia could consider Android. Nokia has sent out a statement on that issue. It seems to have been an error in translation from english to spanish to english.

Secondly, I cannot understand the weak reception of Windows 8. I have a Dell PC from 2009 which I had upgraded to Windows 7 Pro. A few days ago I upgraded to Windows 8 Pro and I just love it. Only one of many, many apps showed up as not compatible. Windows 8 is great in my opinion.

  • "Today we are committed and satisfied with Microsoft, but anything is possible," says Nokia's (NOK +0.8%) Stephen Elop in an interview with Spain's El Pais, apparently leaving the door open to using Android down the line. Past remarks from chairman Risto Siilasmaa have already fueled speculation Nokia is open to adopting Android if Windows Phone sales underwhelm. Elop also argues Nokia's cameras, displays, and proprietary apps will allow its WP hardware to stand out from that of rivals such as HTC. [View news story]
I tend to disagree. The WP8 has much of a "new" value, and with Android it would be more difficult to stand out from the flock of Android phones,

  • AT&T is offering Nokia's (NOK -5.4%) Lumia 920 for $450 without contract, a figure that suggests Nokia's unsubsidized pricing for the device is fairly aggressive - the 16GB iPhone 5, by comparison, goes for $649 without contract, and Samsung's Galaxy S III sells for $549. That pricing is a likely reason why AT&T is comfortable offering the 920 for $100 with a 2-year contract. [View news story]
The Lumia 920 is now said to be available in Sweden 29th November (by 4 different carriers). Recommended price SEK 5700 without a contract. Best offer by the carrier 3.

  • The Lumia 920 Will Not Save Nokia [View article]
One can clearly see that you are long in Apple. Maybe a little worried about the last days stock value reduction? You should also know that what killed Lumia 900 was the news that it would not be compatible with Windows 8. I bought a Lumia 800 a month ago. Its a fantastic phone with Windows 7.5.

  • Though Nokia's (NOK) Steven Elop says he's unaware of any Microsoft (MSFT) smartphone plans, The Verge is joining BGR in fanning the rumor mill. "Multiple insiders" claim Microsoft doesn't plan to announce a Surface smartphone this year, but likely views it as a "Plan B" if pending Windows Phone 8 launches (I, II) don't go well. When asked about the rumors, a Microsoft spokesperson responded with PR-speak about support for hardware partners. [View news story]
    It makes sense!

  • How Many Lumias Can Nokia Sell At These Prices? [View article]
Dear Jacob, as allways you are writing very good articles. To me they seem rather objective and balanced, compared with so many comments with low or no quality.

I had an HTC Android but bought a Lumia 800 only for the purpose of testing it. In my experience the Nokia phone is a lot superior to the HTC phone. And the windows phone os 7.5 is working perfect. No need to upgrade to lumia 820/920.

I had a very good friend in my apartment this morning. He is an Apple fanboy. He has an Iphone 4s. We competed taking photos and texting them to eachother. He had received 3 from me before I got the first from him. Ease of use? Speed?
