MTR Investors Group MTR Investors Group started with the goal to find out if it was possible to go beyond buy and hold investing. Many new investors hear about making money when the stock market is going up (LONG), and when it is going down (SHORT) but seem to lose money trying.
In many ways trading long and short can be called "white collar gambling" or "legalized gambling." It is illegal to bet on Poker or other games online in the United States but it is not illegal to gamble in the stock market, which so many people do each day. We want to keep from "gambling" in the markets and the anxiety that comes with it. We have done this by developing an investment model that looks at the stock market from two points of view.
First by understanding the market from a big picture standpoint. We do this by using an Economic Model that measures the health of the consumer. Second, we use a Stock Market Timing Model that indicates if it is time to go long or short. Taking these two models together an investor will be aware if they should commit cash to the market LONG, SHORT, or stand aside. Using the economic model an investor will be well aware if a Market Up or Market Down signal is a short or long term signal and position trades accordingly.
