  • Can A Successful Dividend Portfolio Be Assembled In 2014? - Part 3 [View article]
    Bob,

    It was one of your previous articles that prompted me to make some portfolio adjustments. I adjusted from a .70 Beta to .62 and feel good about the change. Also no selling....

  • Dividend Challengers: 24 Increases Expected By September 30 [View article]
    Regarding TGH... they announced same dividend .47 today for the 5th consecutive quarter... does not mean they come off the CCC list ... right ?
    They could raise later.

  • 2 Champions, 2 Contenders And 2 Newbies Added To Portfolio [View article]
    I always look forward to your articles, very valuable for anyone new to DGI (me).

    One comment on the following:

    "As stated in the May 23rd article, my goal at age 65 (in two years) is for 50% of the portfolio to be Dividend Champions (companies that have raised their payout for at least 25 consecutive years) and for 25% of the portfolio to be Dividend Contenders (companies that have raised their payout for at least 10 consecutive years)."

    Would it not be a better Goal to have this reflect your "Dividend Income "
    50% from Champions
    25 from Contenders etc. etc.

    This comment made me look at my current Dividend Income which is:
    Champions = 37.4%
    Contenders = 34.9%
    Challengers = 19.%
    Non-CCC = 8.0%

    I do like the Goal of 50% Dividend Income consisting of Champions.

  • Should I Have Followed My Advisor's Advice? [View article]
    Bob:

    I utilized an adviser previously for all out investments. That was until the 3rd quarter of 2012. That is when I found Seeking Alpha and specifically your articles. I went from planning a 4% retirement draw down to just collecting dividends in addition to a Pension and SS. Our Retirement income is much more than what we thought it could be, and the kids will now receive our portfolio eventually. Yes, it takes effort to do your own investments, but believe me it's harder to improve my Golf game.
    Thanks for all the value you add to peoples investments.

  • Diversifying The Perfect Retirement Portfolio - Here's How: Part 3 [View article]
    Chowder: First I follow your comments, Instablog etc. and a huge thank you for all the "value" added information.

    My understanding on Total Portfolio "Beta" is the following.

    Present Stock Value times (X) each individual Stock Beta
    Total "Beta" Value divided (/) Total Present Portfolio Value gives overall Beta.
