Good article. I basically agree with you, but the reason we are not getting inflation due to the fed's loose monetary policy is that the velocity of money has declined significantly. Should it increase
significantly and quickly, the fed would be in a difficult position, as it
would have to drive us into a bad recession to prevent a bad inflation.
Fortunately, that situation seems unlikely at this point because demographics favor a slowing economy rather than one that is speeding up.

Agency MBS fail to bounce from the "massive liquidation" following Bernanke's testimony yesterday, according to CIBC's Tom Tucci. Suggestions of a tapering of Fed purchases sent Fannie Mae MBS with 3% coupons to their lowest levels of the year. "Right now it seems the only source of demand is the Fed," says BAML's Brad Scott. Unsurprisingly, pure agency mREITs like AGNC and ARR hit 52-week lows today. Annaly (NLY) - now diversified into the commercial space with the CXS purchase - outperforms.

I would temper my enthusiasm somewhat on this stock. We have major oil companies, such as Exxon, spend huge amounts of money
years ago trying to make the Colorado shale financially viable. In the end, they wasted every penny and left Colorado, leaving some very unhappy residents who are probably not very interested in having a repeat performance. Also consider that Syria claims the Golan Heights as their land. There is plenty of risk here and the upside may all be a dream. Until something proves otherwise, I think this stock may bump around in the $5-$15 area, possibly for many years. I wish Howard Jonas and the shareholders the best, but one should keep their heads about this one and not get overly excited unless and until there is truly something to get excited about.

Interesting article. I like to hold cash and sell puts at low prices. I either get a great bargain or I get some return on my cash. It's a nice conservative way to benefit from holding cash. I even made some money selling puts on Fairfax when they were available (not anymore).

Tens of thousands of demonstrators protested against TransCanada's (TRP) proposed Keystone pipeline in Washington yesterday, highlighting the dilemma President Obama faces: authorizing the pipeline could create jobs, boost his standing with unions, strengthen ties with Canada and reduce the U.S.'s dependence on Middle East oil; however, it would also alienate a key environmental base that helped get him elected.

I bought a bunch at 99 cents in 2009. I'm very happy with those. I wish I'd bought more. Still seems like a bargain. A healthy, growing company, with smart management, still buying up shares at well below NAV every quarter, and still growing nicely. When the NOLs are used up and the shares reach NAV, look for nice dividends to follow. This should make for a nice retirement asset.
