WHERE CAN WE PUT SKILLED WORKERS TO WORK?
Although many in the media are only finding out about this now, skilled and advanced degreed workers are not finding jobs that take advantage of their skill sets. There is a lot of talent sitting on the sidelines while companies continue to bring in cheap skilled labor through Visa programs claiming there is shortage when there isn't.
America has always been on the cutting-edge of emerging technologies and has created new and broad-based industry segments as those technologies grow.
The big question becomes, "Where is the next big job surge?" because many who have a lot of diversified talent are not finding work. It's not just those coming off of the Space Program, it is everyone in many high-tech and software development areas.
Shovel-ready projects did not work in the initial TARP projects because the segment looking for work was more in the technology and engineering fields. Maybe shovel-ready should have been keyboard-ready to have made a real impact on the economy.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BY PATTON: CUT THE BUDGET BY 20% OR BE REPLACED
Could you imagine General George S. Patton in Congress?
Take a Patton-type leadership initiative to Congress and to the Washington bureaucracies, "Get the job done or be replaced".

SMART POWER GRIDS AND SMART METERING
This includes investing in real estate projects that are dependent on intelligent amenities in order to attract and maintain corporate tenants in new and existing business parks. Master planning for new developments need to include both power and network infrastructure offerings upfront instead of an afterthought after tenants have moved in.
Here is a short overview within a column I just published in ALRROYA out of Dubai, UAE:
