  • Four companies which have invested heavily in gas-fired generation - Calpine (CPN), Exelon (EXC), National Grid (NGG) and Public Service Enterprise (PEG) - urge a court to throw out a lawsuit that would invalidate the EPA's new rules curbing emissions of mercury and other air pollutants. The move exposes a rift within the power sector, which usually speaks with one voice against clean-air regulations. [View news story]

  • Why Exelon's Rally May Have More Legs [View article]
I have serious reservations about Exelon's management ability. I think they gave the store away by all the concessions they made to Maryland and its governor O'Malley in the consolidation with Constellation. They have created some obstacles which will haunt them for a long time. Also the way the current management caved wait until they try to get rate increases from the Maryland PSC. The company needs a whole new perspective and I reflected that in my recent votes for board members.

  • Buy Exelon: The Dividend Cut Is Priced In [View article]
I think any company that makes questionable strategic and tactical moves to hook up with anything having to do with Maryland and its Gov. O'Malley, and their Public Service Commission deserves all the grief EXC is now experiencing. Just ask the French. As I have written before this isn't baseball it is one strike and goodbye and that is again suggested for management and the board.
The sooner the better so that company will stop staggering around and start to get creative ideas from new blood.

As Clint Eastwood pointed out, " if you are not getting it done it is time to move out". I think it is time for the Board of Directors to move out some so called EXC management before the shareholders move BOD out. There have been a lot of inexcusable mistakes by current management which cannot be overlooked not only as reflective on current operations and dividend announcements but also with respect to acquisitions. The Constellation mess is a glaring example. Crane and EXC bent over every time The Maryland governor and the Maryland Public Service Commission made demands of them, most of which are currently stressing EXC performance.

No that management crew has had its chances and now it is time for a new lineup.
