In a past life I was a newspaper reporter/editor, but changed careers in the early '80's to become a stockbroker. I've been working in the financial services industry as a broker/advisor for the past 30 years. During the previous 11 years I was involved in the development of a private mortgage investment corporation (MIC) in Alberta, which currently ranks as one of the largest (in terms of assets under management) in Canada. Now semi-retired and attempting to manage a rather modest portfolio.
