Gary T. Dvorchak, CFA nearly two decades of experience in the institutional investment advisory business. Gary was most recently a partner at Aviance Capital Management, a Sarasota FL-based institutional asset manager. Aviance is affiliated with First Trust Advisors, a Chicago-based investment advisor with $16 billion of assets under management/supervision. Aviance is the sub-advisor to the First Trust Active Dividend Income Fund, a publicly-traded closed-end fund listed on the NYSE under the symbol FAV. FAV utilizes a dividend rotation strategy. Before Aviance, Gary was a portfolio manager on a long-short equity proprietary account for EGM Capital, a San Francisco hedge fund. Previously he was a portfolio manager for Provident Investment Counsel, a Pasadena, CA institutional growth manager. He spent five years at Sit Investment Associates in Minneapolis, after first starting his investment career in research at investment bank Hambrecht & Quist in San Francisco. Gary attended the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in Chicago. Before business school, Gary spent four years in the computer industry as a software engineer and project manager in Boston. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Gary earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1996.
