Ontario Green Energy Act: What Can Alt Energy Legislation Do for Investors?

Sadly, the FIT for solar is too low...w/o a financing scenario of 80% LTV / 20 year term/ and less than 5% interest there is no way to develop solar in Ontario w/o losing your shirt. Given the recent weakness of the CAN $ (among other things), a FIT rate of $0.60 CAN is needed to produce viable projects under the current cost structures of large ground mount SEFs. Not surprisingly, all of the solar projects proposed for Ontario are slated to start construction in late 2009 or 2010--waiting for prices to continue falling as well as guidance from Ontario regarding the FIT. Some of the outfits behind these "proposals" are simply not equipped to execute.
