  • Prospect Capital: A Cheap Cigar Butt? [View article]
They are hitting limits where they have to spin off shares, A rights offer will not reduce the percentage it would just raise more capital (not that they would not include that with a spinnoff). A reduction of the nav without a reduction of the portfolio companies would violate the investment act. If Icon comes in and pushes for lower fees so be it but I dout that happens.

  • What Ends First - Intel's Stock Buybacks Or Mobile Strategy? [View article]
I think I should get rid of intel b4 anyone knows I have made money on it. seriously though they borrowed a lot of money for some of this buyback they have done. It keeps working as long as interest rates are low.

ormat does waste-heat and manufacturing (including building diesel plants) so I would hardly call it pure play.

  • Magnum Hunter E Shares: Capitalizing On $6 Natural Gas? [View article]
One way to go long is to put solar panels on your house or a small wind tower. The nat gas market is an easy one to play for the long term and then after you do that speculate in the market.

  • OPEC governor: oil at $100-$120 again a long shot [View news story]
mostly it isn't oil people want it is gasoline and even then it isn't gasoline it is miles so in the end they are doomed unless they get something else in their economy. Ethanol from trash could make some sense for them if it is paid for by a little higher gasoline prices because it would give them more to export and some electricity.. methonal could help them who knows but they know they have to look at their economy and where tek is going.

  • Why Renewable Energy Group Is A Good Investment Opportunity [View article]
I would say that this is a speculative company even though the republicans may support the prices through an invasion and even then since it is mixed with diesel there is probably only less demand. I followed syntrolium (a company they bought and I had invested in) and they were very smart people (with a lot of bad luck) and no one can loose you money quicker than smart people. I do feel that they have tek that is necessary for society to have even if it isn't competive on price because of energy security their patent portfolio is impressive. Oil is becoming a tek business of sorts and there is more risk than ever.

  • Exxon to begin drilling offshore Guyana [View news story]
Oil isn't going to help Venezuela anyway nothing will help them, it would help both of them to not have problems so that they may move to Guyana when chaos strikes Venezuela latter on.

  • Algonquin Power: Tale Of 2 Countries [View article]
Not that the market looked good today but I noticed this drop, I might be tempted since it is a u.s. company taxed by Canada (really why do that they should move). The U.S. exchange rate shouldn't matter that much.

  • Crude futures decline after inventory data [View news story]
really that doesn't change anything, only investment should be banned to protect American Companies and stock holders (as well as the tax base). Nothing is going to help Venezuela that is why they need to blame someone.

  • Buying PBR: That's Petrobras, Not Pabst Blue Ribbon [View article]
The government has price controls on gasoline and when oil goes up they don't make any money so if they are not making money when the price goes down either buy some American express or something and stay away from this thing.

  • Bluerock Residential Pays 8.5%, Should I Buy It? [View article]
I have seen stocks go up after they cut the dividend and if it is already priced in and if you are doing dividend reinvestment then the risk is probably a lot smaller than you think.... I'll put this on my long buy list (not likely but I will look at it again befour taxes are due)..

It is like a mutual fund company (and they do have a couple of those they run) where the profit is from the fees although they have some skin in the game through their funds. Doing research so you know what they do is a must on this thing..
