I suspect if you control your position size and can wait forever it doesn't matter so much. There may be some forced selling in high yield from margin calls so everything may be underpriced.

  • Realty Income: Sell And Double Your Dividend Income - Here's How  [View article]
nrf and nsam is intresting... there is a claim that there can be a 180 cap gain with nrf and 80% with nsam.. I would put those two in my basket... maybe there is some risk with nrf since the management contract could get sold to whoever but the div is very high. There is alot of stuff in high yield that has been attacked. some of it is deserved some of it isn't happy fishing.

you could either get cash or shares of the new company. Other types of rewards are also possible like earnings percentages or whatever but less common (I see that in drugs sometimes)

I would think regi could be disruptive in bio-fuels... Air Products corp is another one.. I have a trash to energy company in england on my list.. Most likely this causes gradual change with disruptive tek in higher cost liquids. Methanol also looks like it could have disruption at some point.. I would think that you would be speculating on the bonds that the company is worth some percentage of the outstanding amount.

  • How To Fit Preferred Shares Into A Retirement Portfolio  [View article]
I am looking at those 4% munis like you.... I don't like the idea of ever touching the principle because then you have market risk... Perfereds are not my cup of tea but there are some bonds in the $25 area that look like they are worth while and will help me stair step a bond portfolio, I would only buy perfereds if there was an unusual event that made them attractive.

I think you have an accident all high yielder and a bunch of funds that have to make excuses instead of being long term shareholders in a fast growing company. I am a little concerned they could sell the nrf contract to the poppy growers acosication because of the way they stated their letter.

I don't like his view of raiding nrf so that he can make money for nsam... That is part of the reason the stock is down he is scaring the nrf investors. he did stabilise the price for nsam though. Nsam is a quick growing stock and nrf can grow it's fees through inflation in the rent for real estate, It would appear that nsam may grow quicker without nrf but there is some cross marketing involved. I suspect you are going to see blowout earnings because of the recent merger that nsam did will report it's first quarter and because nsam is raising alot of money.

based on the growth rate nsam is very undervalued. nrf is also undervalued and if they buy a huge chunk of nrf they could raise the dividend and have skin in. the game.

  • NorthStar Realty Finance - Updating My Controversial Bullish Thesis  [View article]
I have to buy nrf and nre with the options (so I am not able to buy more shares yet) I am looking at the no debt statement and looking at the 26% yield of nrf and I am thinking nsam should sell preferred stock and do a huge buyback of nrf. partial ownership of the riet would make it somewhat like brookfield asset management. After the buyback they should buy back shares. You have earnings coming out for nsam and those earnings include a business that has never been declared on the income statement so you should see a very very big year over year change.

  • Investing For Retirement Using mREITs And BDCs  [View article]
It would be good to see a very very comprehensive analysis on the debt of bdc's that have expire dates across all the bdc companies. You have strong income without that much chance of default and a contrarian should probably have some bonds and cash in his portfolio. I have seen a couple of articles all ready and I have put them in my watch list. That is my suggestion for an article.
