  • AMR (AAMRQ.PK) CEO Tom Horton is having discussions with officials from American Airlines and US Airways (LCC) over what his role would be at a combined airline. Whatever position is carved out for him, it's believed that it will be below US Airways top exec Doug Parker who is most likely to be pegged as the new CEO of the world's largest airline by traffic if the merger is finalized. [View news story]

i retired from US Airways but am still in touch with several still employed people. They said working there is a nightmare now. They have an adherence they have to stick to and it's so strict that people are being fired left and right. They expect a 6 month employee to perform at the level of a 20 year exceptions. They hired some woman from somewhere else and this is her program. They said the new hires are voluntarily leaving in droves after being out of training for a couple of weeks. All of them are just counting the days to retirement. I don't know what American's working conditions are but if they're not like this then they're in for a BIG shock .
