  • Silver (SLV) plunged to its lowest level in nearly 3 years overnight before a bounce brought it to its current price of $21.60, -3.3%. As with gold, silver ETP holdings have dropped to the lowest levels this year, and speculative short positions are on the rise, according to CFTC data. Gold (GLD) took out its April lows earlier - dropping as low as $1,338. A bounce has brought the metal back to $1,351, -1%[View news story]
I actually own slv as a speculative vehicle I agree with you but there is an aphorism:
"Markets can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent"
    -John Maynard Keynes.
If I was 30 I'd agree with U Alas I am not My children could be 30 Even if I owned the physical The physical would still have to be up to make a profit
Well anyway I hope this is the bottom

  • How Gas Really Gets Priced [View article]
Interesting response. Of course more of crude oil is used for gasoline There is more demand There are more cars than there are trucks (simplified analysis) I am talking about physics and chemistry here. It should be cheaper to make diesel and therefore it should sell less than gasoline. The volumes are large enough for diesel so that it should have same profit margin as gasoline not MORE !!
How do you explain Diesel being cheaper in past? Are you saying that more people drove trucks than cars in past?

  • How Gas Really Gets Priced [View article]
Question to author or anyone that is knowledgeable about diesel pricing:

Call me crazy but looking at figure 4 Diesel price is 58% crude oil and 14% refining in terms of percentage price. This implies that if other costs such as distribution & marketing & taxes were exactly the same as gasoline Diesel would be CHEAPER ! From Figure 4 it seems that it takes more crude oil and a more elaborate refining process to make gasoline. What am I missing? Hard to believe that there is even marketing for diesel in that since there are fewer fueling stations Diesel is practically a monopoly compared to gasoline I remember in past Diesel was always cheaper than gasoline. Why is it more expensive? Have aliens come from Mars and changed the laws of Physics and Petroleum chemistry?

I would love to know the answer to this question its been gnawing at me for years.

My basic question is that if we make distribution & marketing costs & taxes the same for Diesel as gasoline Is Diesel cheaper?

The purpose of stock is to raise capital How does trading in old stock raise capital? It doesn't. Stock should pay dividend to the owners which are stock holders Does it? Dividends are very low or non-existent for most stocks. Most investors are just unsophisticated gamblers: the delusion of investing.
They call it investing. If they had half a brain instead of betting on stocks that give no dividends they would refuse to buy said stock but they do as the stupid masses always do To me the stock market is a casino and I treat as such. It always was but the unwashed masses are mostly idiots and call it investing.

  • Why Gold And Silver Prices Are Declining Along With The Dollar [View article]
    Dear author:
"....and the Fed won't have anyone to buy the trillions of Treasuries they will have to dump at some point."
Why? They will keep it on the books forever and never sell or even it sell at a loss and no one will be the wiser.
The only time the FED would sell said securities if it was trying to curb inflation otherwise it doesn't matter. OF course no one will buy the banksters' mortgages but it could always sell treasuries of which it has most likely trillions.

The problem will occur if no one buys said securities on books which is what happened in the Weimar Republic thereby creating run away inflation since everyone would think they are in ZIMBABWE.

  • Recession Risk: The Threat Of Rising Interest Rates [View article]
I am amazed at your statement that the FED is NOT waging war on the saving class Short term interest rates are less than 1% and only a fool would buy long term Treasuries In fact the government is buying most of them right now
I almost think that you are an employee of the Fed out to spread disinformation Do you really believe inflation figures? Have you looked at your grocery and gas bills?
So you have bought the market and evidently are doing very well. Does the S&P500 always go up? Were you fully invested in 2008?
Have you ever heard the term "survivor bias" in the S&P 500? This refers to the fact that the S&P 500 replaces stocks that have been delisted or gone bankrupt every year with new stock. Lets say you owned some of these stocks evidently since the stock was taken out of the S&P 500 you did not lose any money. I also believe in the tooth fairy.
BUT being as we are, few will know and fewer still will understand.

  • Monday Market Measurements: How Great Are Things? [View article]
I disagree the purpose of the Fed's monetary policies was to bail out the Banks! The banks should have gone bankrupt. The government could have given trillions of dollars to well run banks that did not invest in securitized mortgages and let them get larger. Instead we have the same old corrupt banks continuing the same old corrupt system.
Encourage investment? People are unemployed and interest rates on bank accounts are effectively zero. Why should a company build a new factory? To sell to who?
We are becoming Japan and sooner or later the Weimar Republic.

I never saw a rectangle until apple invented it and THEY should be protected from algebra and geometry teachers as well. Our school system is getting worse because our teachers are stealing ideas from Apple. :-)

Seriously I hate Samsung I am happy Apple won. Samsung never updates software (ie Android) unless you buy their next new phone.
