Call me crazy but does your last paragraph about Sentinel Securities say that a judge ruled that segregated funds which were not owned by Sentinel Securities that were illegally pledged as collateral for a loan can be confiscated by a bank as collateral if the bank pledges said cash by breaking laws on the segregation of funds? Is corruption of this magnitude possible? Is our judiciary this corrupt?
Gee wiz so SIPC insurance is useless then?

The title has nothing to do with the subject matter. It is like a paragraph onto itself. It's just a style which I did not realize at first. Food for thought.

  • America's 'Trente Glorieuses'? [View article]
I agree with you and I am not on the side of Democrats per se but the Republicans talk the talk of stopping illegal immigration but they want cheap labor for farms, slaughterhouses, etc, supposedly jobs that Americans will NOT do. My a*se. I guarantee you if illegal immigration was stopped and the salary was high people would do it. What Republicans want is CHEAP labor. Right now we have so many JOKE guest worker VISAs that a LARGE Corp can literally bring as many people as they want.
BOTH the RepuCrats and tje DemoPublicans want the same thing. WAKE UP !!

History does not repeat itself but it does rhyme.
Even if immigrants increase innovation most of the products created as a result of this innovation i.e. manufacturing will go overseas. Most of our college youth cannot find jobs in their field. So what if new products are created? Who will buy them when most jobs are low wage jobs? What? Innovation at the dollar store?
NAFTA and its descendents has turned the US into a future third world country. Eventual these immigrants will go back to their country of origin. Why stay in a third world country?

Have to think about it but interesting
Given that any true insider info is not available. Seeing what the unwashed masses do is useful, After all, Wall Street makes profits at the expense of the "sheeple". When they get too greedy we have a financial crisis and the sheeple lose.
And of course the sheeple complain about losing their houses or housing prices went down too far,. "Buddy, where in economics does it say that housing prices will always go up?" It's a risk like all other investments.

  • Windows 8 Is The Next Battleground For Apple And Microsoft [View article]
I think the vole (i.e Microsoft) is know for throwing chairs at people and not much else. Look at the the stupid ribbon interface. Does anybody really prefer this over the old vanilla windows interface? NOBODY Most people would be happy with excel 97 and word 97 and couldn't care less about an upgrade. I used wordPerfect and to me it is superior to Word. Most people want a simple word processor they do not want a bulldozer when a shovel will do. I use XP which is very fast and does the job. I do not need Windoze 7 with eye candy to masturbate my brain. I want something done on my computer. I do not want angels flying around my desktop when I do a task.
Does anybody really want the stupid metro interface on a desktop? I don't think so. XP until they take it from my cold dead hands.

  • Does Bank Of America Get It? [View article]
Most of the technology to process electronic checks is an extension of previous technology. Today it is cheaper to process a check since I seriously doubt that check sorters are still used etc. Checks today are more ephemeral like a withdrawal from an ATM machine than seeing a human teller. The infrastructure for electronic checks has been in existence for at least 30+ years. In fact today one no longer needs a dedicated computer network, one can use the internet assuming you encrypt. Basically almost all the costs have been amortized.

Sure you may have to replace terminals and computers but PCs of today are equivalent to a mainframes of yesteryear. In short maintenance of equipment should not be a great expense.

What about the float? By this I mean the delay before a person cashes a check. The interest alone on this money will pay for all maintenance of an electronic check processing system. (Today of course a fee on banks may be necessary but again the interest on savings is low in order to give money to banks to bail them out. Why is interest on Credit Cards so high when one gets less than 1% interest on savings account?)

Banks are totally corrupt and will lie and make up stories so that they can charge higher fees. Sometimes you have to look for the man behind the curtain. Banks have to go back to basics and make less profit. Banking is supposed to be a boring field not unlike a utulity. It is not supposed to be a casino!!!

I sold silver yesterday as well. Wish I had sold it at 34 which would have been a good price. No one can sell at top. But I kept thinking of 34 but did not do it. I guess better to be out yesterday than today. Count my blessings. Sometimes too much greed is not good.

  • Does Bank Of America Get It? [View article]
I agree with your comments and article Siddharth. I am beginning to think that perhaps that some of these responses are written by shills for the banking industry. To process an electronic transaction basically costs nothing to transact. It basically processes electrons. So many transaction happen in a large banks that the transfer of money is effectively done for free. Did I mention that most banks hold your money longer than necessary so that they earn interest on your money while the check is waiting to clear? They invariably hold your money for a couple of days more than necessary while the checking transactions could have been processed almost immediately. Today it seems that more and more people use electronic checks so there is no physical check to process.

This reminds me of most Drs who used to make "real" money and now are pissed that they no longer earn as much money as before. Most of the profits are now siphoned off by insurance companies' overhead. DO YOU KNOW what happens when your standard of living goes down? YOU steal to make up the difference !!!! So now we have Drs that charge for mythical procedures and whom see you for 5 minutes. From what I have read, 1/3 of Drs are incompetent, 1/3 are crooks, and 1/3 are HONEST. People do not want to lower their standard of living and once this happens will steal if necessary assuming of course that they have the means to steal money. BOC will not give in to lower profits until they go bankrupt. Welcome to greed !!!

We need national health insurance that is well run. It will never happen in this country because no matter what health insurance it will be skewed to help the pharmaceutical and other medical industries.

We are basically living the decline of the Roman Empire. CHINA is run by engineers not by IDIOT lawyers. We will assuredly become a 3rd work country hopefully after I am DEAD. The American mantra is " I am me and F*ck you".

    Disallusioned investor,

  • How To Make Money From Windows 8 [View article]
windows ATE, what a great name for an operating system. The ipad craze is a passing fancy. People will realize that to do any real work u need a real keyboard. Apple will keep it's edge since if you want a real ipad u buy a real ipad. Everyone else will die a slow death in their ipad clone division that they deserve.
The vole in redmond will add another division that loses money and add it to the likes of bing, etc.
