  • 3 Reasons Why Silver Is a Better Short Than Gold [View article]
I do believe in gold and silver as speculative vehicles.

I keep hearing of industrial uses of silver but I just don't don't see any save film which is effectively an antiquated technology that belongs in the dinosaur aqe.

Every time I see a use of silver I always hear PT Barnum's famous quote ring in my mind.

Has anyone thought about QE4 yet? By then the world should have ended so it no longer matters. The date is 12/21/2012. Are there any Mayan financial advisers out there?

  • Oil Reserves to Be Tapped With Aim to Boost World Economy [View article]
Ethanol is a joke. If it wasn't for government subsidies it would not be able to compete against anything. I think. The only country that can make cheap ethanol is Brazil and ethanol is banned from being imported into US because of insane tariffs. Presently ethanol in US is made from corn which cannot compete against anything without a subsidy. All this does is shift acreage from edible foods to ethanol. All we will get from this crap is high food prices !!

  • Nuclear Power Is Here to Stay [View article]
I am amazed at all the sock puppets that work for the nuclear industry. Nuclear is not safe! All you people that are pro-nuke please get a job at a nuke plant doing menial chores such as cleaning the inside of nuclear water boiler when nuke reactor is shutdown for maintenance. Call me back in 20 years when you have leukemia.

There is no place to put nuke waste and no one wants it in their back yard. Cost is prohibitive to store because you have to store waste for hundreds of years.

No one will insure nuke plant except our benevolent government which surely has our best interests in mind. Our impartial Nuclear Regulatory Agency is known for watering down regulations at the bequest of our NUKE reactor operators. Face it people out govt is totally corrupt as evidenced by the bank bailouts.

If nuclear power cannot exist without government subsidy namely via insurance it should not exist. If nuclear power is so great let the private insurance companies insure it and pay the insurance when a nuke plant blows up. Nuke power must be the best thing since cherry pie as evidenced by the thousands of insurance companies willing to insure them.

I could not finish this article I stopped in disgust.

  • Why We Are Due for a Brutally Ugly 2011-2012 [View article]
It's not a Chinese curse it's actually an English/American curse. Too lazy to google it. Oh well.
By 'interesting' times it means that there is change. When there is change people become obsolete via: automation, industrial revolution, computers, outsourcing, etc.. Wars may also start because of such change.
I love this phrase because most people have no real clue what it means and do not realize that it is a curse! :-) I just love it.

  • Germany to Hobble Itself via Nukes [View article]
I keep hearing that military nuke plants are better designed to higher standards. I call this pork feces. Look at Hanford Nuke plants in Washington. They are an environmental disaster and because military accountable to no one. I would never believe that the military has higher standards. Perhaps more expensive but more expensive does not mean higher standards. You people have to stop believing in mom and apple pie.

  • The Curious Case of the Economics of Netflix [View article]
If you are expecting a market crash I would imagine shorting NFLX would be a good idea. It should dive much more than S&P 500. Am I missing something in my analysis? Of course I would buy a put and not go short outright. There are spread etc with puts but I am just too lazy to research. At any rate if the Apocalypse occurs (in terms of a market crash), big money woudl be made being short or via put proxy.

  • Will You Become an Inflation Victim? Take This Simple Quiz [View article]
Yes what you owe the bank is debased by the amount of inflation but if your income does not go up, you are screwed, Odds are your income has gone down so your mortgage and real estate tax deduction is less percentage wise.
No inflation what are you smoking? Right now the US gobernnent is buying these bonds with printed money. If Helicopter Ben was not buying this stuff, rates would skyrocket.
The days of owning a home are over. Real Estate prices will most likely keep going down until they are realistic and not because they represent a speculative instrument such as tulips in Holland. Real estate is still overpriced. You believe all the BS about owning a home?

  • Germany to Hobble Itself via Nukes [View article]
Nuke power will never be safe! No one will insure a nuke plant outside of the government which will print money to pay for massive cleanups or deaths.
Even better after a nuclear disaster we can deny or delay nuke victims settlements either because jobs will be lost as in asbestos or delay until they die.
Hey you people that love Nuke why not volunteer to work in a nuke plant doing maintenance chores which usually involves radiation. After all we need energy and you can volunteer to help!
Where the hell are we going to put all this radioactive waste? How about dispersing spent fuel into every pro-nuke persons back yard. This will avoid the disaster that happened in Fukushima.where there was no place to put spent fuel except in Nuke plant thereby increasing nuclear emissions countless times.
YEP Nuke power is as good as apple pie and white bread.
    The Germans are smart !!!

  • 3 Reasons to Buy The New York Times [View article]
Who cares if Krugman is a nobel prize winner. Economics is called the dismal science because it is mostly BS. Now they have added differential equations and what not to explain economic behavior and supposedly this makes Economics a science. I could see a diiferential equation describing a physical process (Physics) but using math to describe basically human behavior to me is BS.
