What Is QNX And What Does It Mean For BlackBerry's Future? [View article]
Oh dear Kurt! I wonder how the Republicans will put a negative spin on that? Something like "denying the inherent right of people to write themselves off (along with whoever else is involved...) in car wrecks", or will it be the "it's a new tax!" ploy?

"I mean it's only 1.25 away"! Such thinking bemuses me dw, but you are right, people tend to think in absolutes, when what really matters is the percentage change (which, with 1.25 v 3.75 is rather large)! Imagine Samsung's price jumping up 33% in the same period!

"more on target now then they ever have been"? Maybe so dw, but it's taken rather a long time hasn't it? This mirrors my own experience within such a collaboration; no one in real control, down at the foot soldier level, so it's "one step forwards, two steps backwards..."
Why do you bother Tr? I'm giving up, as I've just had two more posts deleted, one just a question to Marcap, the other just telling people another of my posts had been deleted! How can that be considered "offensive" (or whatever criteria SA are using here)?

"Only time will tell if QNX, as a standalone asset, has the ability to be a substantial revenue producer."? Do you mean those twenty million cars are using QNX for free?

Similar, yes, but not identical, and with so many BBRY articles coming out, how could it be otherwise? A better description of this particular article would be "redundant"! I'm not sure why other commentators have praised it, and can only guess they have short memories, or do they just get a serotonin rush when they read what they want to believe?
Interesting; this system often freezes for several seconds, for no apparent reason, but this time there was no problem until your "Author's Reply" appeared, so I'm wondering if it is something to do with the script used; anyone else have this problem?
It's interesting that I got to this article just two days late, and it's already out of date! As in "While no details were given or specifications". As of now, the only unknown (at least to me) is the price, with various writers claiming anything from 199 to 399$. Does anyone know for sure yet? Given the competition, especially from Nokia"s Asha range, it's going to be rather crucial, and I fear that, if the higher prices are correct, then it will be too close to the Z & Q 10s, and totally uncompetitive against the 99$ Asha 501. At around 200$, though, it should do well both in established (target; the unemployed like myself, who could conceivably just about scrape that much together, but not the cost of a Z 10) and emerging (landowning farmers, as opposed to "gardeners" & farm labourers) markets.

Elisa (anyone); can you confirm your "$299 - $399" price for a Q5? Elsewhere I've read 199 to 299$, which seems more realistic as it distances it safely from the Q & Z10, while giving it a fighting chance against Nokia's Asha range, but at a minimum of 300$, the Asha 501 is going to swamp it in emerging markets!
It may not matter, as I don't think a company the size of BBRY should try to slug it out in low margin markets against giants like Samsung, and, relatively speaking, Nokia, who already do have a massive presence at the low end. At the 200$ price point, though, they would have a good chance of taking the smaller, but still massive, emerging market lower middle/landowner types, keen to distinguish themselves from the "peasants". I haven't the numbers for this calculation, but it might be worth while accepting a slightly smaller margin for this particular target.

Agreed, Sys; after many months of study and analysis, I'm convinced that actively trading (of just about any stock) is the surest way to make money, especially for those of us who just can't afford to leave our assets just marking time for months/years on end.
It's worth repeating, as it's been proved to me over and over again in recent months: The price of a stock, ANY stock, can ALWAYS go down!
