Facebook Is No Phone Maker; Home Interface Worst Idea Since IPO [View article]
I'm not at all sure that the failure of HTCs phone is any reflection on FB, and FB home may well be a hit when downloaded to other phones! That said, you'll never see it on any phone of mine...

Abu, I honestly don't see the point, but am trying to consider it from the point of the actual download, who, if this could ever happen, will think it's the real you. I suppose that, if the transfer was to an android (no, not the phone!) one could still do interesting things whilst being infinitely rebuildable, but does anyone really want to live forever?
As for "if you could no longer smell?", you should check out my socks; I could probably stink in any form...
Didn't we forget a little something, Marcap? The word begins with a "p". Also, how exactly can we meaningfully "remove Blackberry's cash" from the calculation?

"Nothing like a CEO saying one thing, then doing something entirely different" dog? Well nothing other than all the others who do so; by the time you get to CEO level in most big companies, you find yourself dealing with Extreme Female Brain types who, like most women, most of the time, don't consider their words to be contractual...
That could be so Charles; with most plastics, one just changes to a feed stock of the desired colour, but I've never actually worked with polycarbonate, and seem to recall that when used in motorcycle helmets, they are colour coated, and deep scratches show up as white.
That said, that's a special case, as polycarbonate used for safety devices must be ultraviolet protected, i.e., coated with another material, and any helmet scratched that deep needs to be junked, anyway, so this may not be pertinent. Can anyone else enlighten us?
"You don't make a dime on lost sales", Charles? You don't lose anything on them either, and many "lost" customers will buy later, so I don't buy this Wall Street hype (it's not their money at risk); you can't "lose" money you never had...
Not that I'm defending Nokia, mind; to be so under resourced as they were with the L920 smacks of incompetence, and heads should have rolled...
The enthusiasm here is palpable (and probably justified) but I'd caution you all that, if the Q5 is a stripped down Q10, then there is the question of: just how much better it can be than the rather awesome Asha 501 from Nokia?
The Asha will retail for 99$, unlocked, and it doesn't seem Q10 will be priced that low, so success is not exactly assured; there's real competition out there!
The impact of colour on cost varies according to what the material is; with a polycarbonate body, it is negligible, but not so with aluminium, in which case a single colour (or no colour) would make sense, especially if backed up with multi hewed covers, which could also provide additional shock protection.
That said, Fords used to be available in "any colour you want, as long as it's black", but not any more, as getting the colour options right can shift a lot more produce, so it's not a straightforward call for management to make; damned if they do and damned if they don't!

wrs, I can understand your beef and it does seem like bad planning by Nokia, but recall that, if the product is sold at a profit, then "selling all that you can build", is considered by most companies as being "SUCCESFUL"!
Sure, Wall Street won't see it that way, but they make their money by getting others to work for them, so they don't have to worry about issues like overproduction, hence the barrage of hype we get from them...
