Pres. Obama is expected to nominate Tom Wheeler, a former CEO for both the cable and mobile phone industry's top trade groups (the NCTA and CTIA), to be the next head of the FCC, the WSJ reports. Given Wheeler's background and the fact he supported the AT&T/T-Mobile merger (shot down in part by the outgoing Julius Genachowski), albeit on grounds it would give the FCC a chance to impose new regulations, AT&T (T) and Verizon (VZ) might be happier with this report than Sprint (S) and MetroPCS (PCS). If Wheeler gets the job, he'll arrive ahead of a major spectrum auction whose rules are still being hotly debated.

Upcoming FCC spectrum auctions should be structured to guarantee smaller nationwide carriers - no doubt T-Mobile (DTEGY.PK) and Sprint (S) - are able to purchase a fair share, so as to "improve the competitive dynamic among nationwide carriers and benefit consumers," the DOJ argues in a public filing. Verizon Wireless (VZ, VOD) and AT&T (T), who are already complaining the auctions (arriving in 2014 or later) will cap how much spectrum they can acquire, can't be happy to hear that.

T-Mobile USA (DTEGY.PK) will start selling the iPhone 5 (AAPL) on April 12. In tune with the carrier's embrace of subsidy-free plans, the 16GB model will be sold without contract for an up-front cost of $100 and a 2-year, $20/month installment schedule (total cost of $580, a little below the phone's unlocked price of $649). T-Mobile, which is (finally) launching a 4G LTE network in 7 cities, will also sell the BlackBerry Z10 (BBRY) and Samsung's Galaxy S IV. The carrier plans to offer 4G coverage to 100M people by mid-year, and 200M by year's end. (live blog) (PR)

I don't know why I am such a skeptic but the T-Mobile and Wireless Cellular Industry in general has encouraged me to be that way. You see I own a wireless phone, a tablet, and a laptop. I am also deaf and rely almost exclusively on wireless text communication to communicate. Try and get connected with all these wireless offerings but without having to first give over your first born.

I am also an investor and positions trader. That makes me even more of a skeptic. Here is why.

a. It seems very funny to me that T-Mobile is going to start selling the iPhone on the exact same day as the MetroPCS shareholders are going to have their very continuous stockholders meeting on the T-Mobile / MetroPCS merger. Has T-Mobile hired some of the White House Staff to manage the events leading up to this shareholders meeting?

b. All this sounds wonderful for all the new customers that may want to leave their current provider and move to T-Mobile. They welcome them with open arms. What about their already loyal customers. Show me where a current customer can update their current plan to the new plan (they can) but at the same time buy a new phone under the new arrangement (they cannot). The only way I see they can do that is to add a second line. Does the word predatory pop its head up here.

You be the judge. As always, trust but verify. Even though I am deaf, I don't want to be dumb also.

Job number one of the next Obama administration would appear to be the ousting of FHFA chief Ed DeMarco, who has blocked Treasury's efforts for principal reductions for troubled mortgages. Doing the job he was hired to do, DeMarco contends such moves sound nice, but have proven to be worse than existing programs at reducing foreclosures and saving the taxpayer money.

First as operating system and second as hardware.

If Microsoft does a good job and produces a good product, (ie Windows 8) than would the public not want the same operating system they have on their computer on their phone. Its like they (PC, Tablet, Phone) all become one environment. One total communication, networking and play environment on all my hardware.

If Nokia focuses on and makes the best mouse trap (phone) then would the public not also want their operating system on the best phone.

As for marketing, my neighbor who is happy with their operating system, their PC, their Tablet and their Phone in the long run will sell way more phones than someone that only sells "fluff" for a short while.

Value never loses value.

Ilari Nurmi, Nokia's (NOK) VP of product marketing and the exec responsible for its smartphone strategy, has left the company for unknown reasons. Nurmi's departure comes as speculation grows CEO Stephen Elop will get axed next year if Nokia's Windows Phone 8 sales disappoint, and 3 months after chairman Risto Siilasmaa talked about having a "contingency plan" (believed by many to be Android) should WP8 fail to meet expectations.

What his position was and how does his departure effect the overall operation of Nokia. Also has Nokia put in place stratagies to compensate for his departure. (Period) A lot of people trade on Gossip and I suspect just Gossip and don't trade. I trade on facts. Reuters is a repuitable observer and reporter of what they see and hear and I rely on that reporting. If you as an investor or trader do not like what happened, sell you stock and go buy something else.

I have always told my children that an "asset" is basically worthless until it is turned into cash. This potential sell to me is a clear sign that Nokia is serious about surviving. This move does not come from a position of weakness but from a position of strength and a determination to survive. Outsiders that have been existing in a world of ease should now better watch out. I personally think Nokia has finally confronted its denial is on the move now.

Though Nokia's (NOK) Steven Elop says he's unaware of any Microsoft (MSFT) smartphone plans, The Verge is joining BGR in fanning the rumor mill. "Multiple insiders" claim Microsoft doesn't plan to announce a Surface smartphone this year, but likely views it as a "Plan B" if pending Windows Phone 8 launches (I, II) don't go well. When asked about the rumors, a Microsoft spokesperson responded with PR-speak about support for hardware partners.

What would be better for the cell phone consumer than to have several cell phone brands operating all on the same Windows 8 platform and thus giving the consumer the choice of which cell phone brand they wanted to utilize this platform on. Microsoft would not be a threat to the partners and each would actually compliment each other. Android and Apple would now have some competition.

The Microsoft (MSFT) smartphone rumor refuses to go away. Though a company exec denied the rumor in June and suggested Microsoft won't compete with Windows Phone partners such as Nokia (NOK), BGR reports a "trusted source" indicates Redmond is working on a high-end smartphone, with a launch expected in the coming months. A Chinese site recently claimed Microsoft's phone will be sold under the Surface brand, and be available in 1H13.

This article hit the nail right on the head. Five Star Quality Care, Inc. is not a healthcare company. They are part of a group of companies that own each other. Its like hiring you children to work for you. You do not increase your family wealth, you just move your money around.

The most disturbing part of FVE is it is not a healthcare company, it had it roots in truck stops three or four companies back and does not look like it has changed it players much since those days.

I leave you with this thought. FVE is putting together a rather large, private, high end group of companies catering to rich and famous old people. Today they have moderate aches and pains but in five years they will begin to have some real sicknesses. Now what is FVE going to do.
