  • Public Company Use of Social Media for Investor Relations – Summer 2010

Download the latest Q4 Whitepaper on social media for public companies.
We’re thrilled to announce our latest report on the use of social media by public companies for investor relations.  If you’d like to get right to the report you can download it here.

Last year we released two research reports onTwitter for investor relations.  At that point, our sample of 350 companies told us that 35% were using Twitter for IR, in the current report you’ll see this adoption is now at 65%.

However, it’s not all about Twitter. So we expanded our research to include Facebook, LinkedIn, Blogs, YouTube and SlideShare.  Their respective adoption rates for IR came in at:

    • 37% Facebook
    • 29% YouTube
    • 10% Corporate blog
    • 10% SlideShare
    • 93% LinkedIn
Social Media Used by Public Companies for IR

What impresses me the most about the state of the market is just how many companies are using social media . We’ve included hundreds of examples in this report and we’ve literally just scratched the surface.

The complete report is 96 pages and has tons of tables, charts and web links.

Register on the landing page and we’ll email you the whitepaper right away.

    We hope you enjoy it.

Let us know what you think in the comments below! Is social media for IR reaching a tipping point?

  • Report Reveals 175% Increase in Adoption of Twitter for Investor Relations during Q3

We’re thrilled to release our latest quarterly report on the use of Twitter in investor relations. In August 2009 we issued a report which analyzed 80 public companies and their use of Twitter during the Q2 2009 earnings season. Today we’re happy to announce some of the key findings from our Q3 2009 report.

Since issuing our Q2 report in August, the growth in the number of public companies who have a Twitter account has grown by 270 or 338%. Of the 270 public companies the number who is using Twitter for IR increased by 77 or 175%. Although still small in terms of the potential universe, this report indicates a clear trend in that IROs are realizing that social networks are an effective medium to reach out and interact with stakeholders.

Here are some other key stats from the report:

    • 35% of our sample is using Twitter for investor relations.
    • 68% of the companies who use Twitter for IR are located in the U.S.
    • 53% provided a link to their earnings release only.
    • 48% actively engage with their followers through @replies and Retweets.
