  • Best Ideas For 2014: Long GCVRZ  [View article]
As I have said before, "There are no gurus folks", in other words one should stick within their OWN circle of competence. Cloning top investors is great, but you still must stay within your circle of competence. This is a lesson learned by many in this security. Dont follow blindly.

Chris should interview Doghouse and Rootbeer or an SA Editor should interview all 3 of you. I believe there are many investors who have been following this message board who are truly confused as to the current views from the most knowlegable resources participating here. With the CVR and such a low price we need a deep dive and Q&A to get the latest collaborative thinking.

I think what has happened is that there has been a "reset" on expectations of the overall future usage of the drug. The last few days pointed so much negativity toward the drug that investors are spooked on the milestone payments beyond potential approval. The number of variables that one much assess beyond potential approval are still large.

Root beer, what makes no sense is that why would Genzyme do the tender at $1.75 if they did any due diligence when issuing the CVR and prior to the Sanofi acquisition. You would think massive due diligence was done. If the work was that shoddy I would think someone on the deal team would point it out. I am playing devils advocate and my guess is that this drug will be approved. Drugs at this level always have major issues- look at standard chemo drugs - they basically kill you to save you. Mark me down as a contrarian approval.

I am confused how this drug went from a quantum leap in MS treatment to a sloppy trial with unclear results in a matter of days?

  • Get A 4.1% Yield With Retail Opportunity Investments Corporation  [View article]
I am big fan of Stuart Tanz, CEO of ROIC. Now that the warrant overhang in about gone you will probably see the share price start to climb also. The warrants were a big factor holding the stock back.

  • Gramercy: Is This Small Cap The Greatest Alpha Opportunity In REITs?  [View article]
Very nice work. Been on the fence since the equity raise, gives a very nice view of looking at the company as a "growth" versus strict "value" play. Following you for future ideas!

Two questions, I was not aware there was a hard date on the Lemtrada approval March 31, 2014. Has anyone done an analysis on the probability of approval but AFTER that date? I don't believe Chris mentioned this risk in his write up of the investment thesis.

Secondarily, is this panel a "out of normal" activity prior to approval? Why does this pose additional risk? Or why does the market view it that way?

In retrospect the easy money was made and arbitrage squeezed when the stock was popularized by Chris in January on Bloomberg. SKate where the puck is going is the lesson here, once the initial spike came its been just an average investment compared to S&P.

  • Gramercy to resume preferred dividends in Q4; targets 2014 for common payout  [View news story]
Cohen and Steers are the top tier investor in REIT space, best investor you can get. When common div resumes, they will buy heavy.

  • Gramercy Property Trust Raises $47.4 Million in Equity Private Placement, Identifies a $130 Million Investment Pipeline and Announces Intention to Reinstate Preferred Dividend
One word of caution, I agree with the above, but this is still a long slog. REITS in general consume capital and until they can get the common div in place, and the stock price up, we are always at risk for dilution from cap raises.

This company is NOT properly communicating with their shareholders. This dilution was never discussed prior to this announcement. I have lost faith in the managment team to communicate in a forthright manner.
