  • Obama's Energy Bill: A Recipe for Economic Destruction [View article]
The only economic destruction that this bill will cause will be the demise of big oil, gas and coal. And hopefully nuclear energy. Someone has to put a stop to the continued use of these environmentally and economically destructive forms of energy production. Granted, the bill still subsidizes them but now at least the door has been opened to allow the alternatives a little bit more of a level playing field. If we can just get this administration to support research and implementation of the truly revolutionary energy production forms of cold fusion, zero point energy and the novel forms of water electrolysis we will be on our way to energy independence and a cleaner more healthy environment. Mr. Chu, are you listening?

  • Sorry Greens, Fossil Fuels Are Here to Stay [View article]
Fossil fuel's days are numbered We, as a society, are slowly waking up to the incredible story we've been fed by the spinmeisters of this archaic industry that is destroying our planet. The false tales of "clean coal" and gasoline that is "less damaging" to the environment, and natural gas that will let us be less dependent on foreign sources without mentioning that it still further burdens the atmosphere and acidifies our oceans are constantly before our eyes on tv and billboards. The nuclear industry is no better with its claims of no pollution without mentioning the mining operations, waste fuel issues and huge costs. Mass media is implicitly involved in their dereliction to report the truth or directly involved in the deception because of sponsors. Our politicians don't represent us on these issues but the big businesses behind their election.
The truth is there are existing technologies that have been systematically suppressed by those interests that would be most affected by their implementation. We're outraged by the criminal activities on Wall Street, in our largest banks and the mortgage industry. Wait until the word gets out on what has occurred in the energy production business. Wait until the public finds out that technologies have been around for better than 50 years that would make all the problems we see today related to energy moot. I challenge all you "knowledgeable" prognosticators to pull your collective heads out of the sand and look into these alternative solutions and then tell us all the reasons why we need them now and not 50 more years from now. I dare you....

  • Open Letter to Boone Pickens [View article]
The fact that alternative energy technology exists that will solve all our energy problems cleanly and affordably continues to elude all your conversations. These technologies are here now but receive mostly ridicule and little or no support from the "knowledgeable" public and politicians in the pockets of the fossil fuel industry and its immensely successful spinmeisters. The fact is that "clean" natural gas still adds to atmospheric greenhouse loading which further exacerbates the ever increasing problem of global climate change and warming. Please take some time to explore these alternate technologies and then ask why is it that we continue down this path of self destruction by polluting the very biosphere that supports us and our children. Where is the political will to make the necessary changes that will allow the implementation of technologies that already exist that will solve all these perplexing problems of clean energy production and clean transportation? Where is the outcry that will overcome old thinking that just won't and can't solve the problem? Must every child be on an inhaler before we wake up? Wake up...

Unfortunately its analysis like the above that will keep us mired in the fossil fuel conundrum. As long as we continue to justify the use of fossil fuels and support them with huge tax incentives and supports the longer we'll continue to find ourselves either dependent on foreign sources or we'll be destroying the environment exploiting them at home. Only when we decide that this oldparadigm is no longer valid and invest our resources in developing clean alternatives will we divorce ourselves of a technology that is destructive not only environmentally but socially and politically as well. Clean sustainable energy will revitalize our economy, our people and mostly it will return us to an independent and robust energy supply that's decentralized, renewable and without all the baggage associated with fossil fuels and nuclear energy. By developing and assisting in the deployment of these technologies we can lead the world to a new age of clean and peaceful energy. I'm afraid though that this will require inspired, forward thinking leadership and financial institutions that are willing to sever their dependency on a fossil fuel
    economy.

  • Apple's New iPhone Applications No Threat to RIM's BlackBerry [View article]
Like all technological advances it usually takes time for their benefit and evolutionary advantages to be recognized. With Apple's iPhone/Touch iPod though, the advancement is a giant leap from the desktop/laptop to a mobile computing telecommunications device that will be be ubiquitous within 5-10
years. Apple's foresight and imagination are propelling them and us into a worldwide acceptance and communication that will connect us all in ways that will help dissolve the differences that are presently holding us apart. A marvelous evolution clearly happening before our very eyes. Enjoy it...

  • New Electric Vehicles Coming Soon [View article]
There's another electric vehicle company named Zap in Santa Rosa California. They produce a series of small electric vehicles designed specifically for urban use. Under development with Lotus Engineering is a cross-over SUV that will have an extended range suitable for interstate travel.
To quote Zap. "ZAP's strategy is to serve the growing and underrepresented consumer that seeks fuel efficient vehicles. With the recent increases in the cost of oil and increasing concern about the environment and the effects of global warming, we believe there is a large and untapped demand in the areas of transportation and consumer products. During the energy crisis of the 1970s, Japanese automobile manufacturers penetrated the United States market when domestic automobile manufacturers failed to anticipate changes. ZAP believes a similar opportunity is present today, enhanced by heightened environmental awareness, climate changes and economic pressures. ZAP has assembled a complete line of products to meet the growing demands of the environmentally conscious consumer focused on two primary businesses: ZAP Electric Vehicles and ZAP Recharge-It-All."
As we transition from a fossil fuel based economy to one that uses alternative methods of producing electricity such as solar, electric vehicles will become an even more integrated part of that shift. Small companies not currently on the radar of most large investment houses will be positioned to blossom and bring growing returns to those fortunate and foresighted enough to have invested early. One such company in ZAP.
