  • Apple Has Peaked: The Warning Signs Are Multiplying [View article]
Wow. Comments on this more than 2 years later. Interesting. Anon, agreed. Apple is stronger than ever. And this personal health maintenance stuff that Apple has going on with new software is going to blow the health care lid wide open...

  • iPad 12.9-Inch Version May Deliver Strong Gross Margins For Apple [View article]
As I mentioned on Twitter recently, why do I need a 12.9" iPad when I have a 13" Macbook Pro? I am hearing "who's cannibalizing who" sung by Aretha Franklin...

  • Apple urges shareholders vote against Icahn buyback proposal [View news story]
Apple can't say they are "thoughtfully considering options for returning additional cash to shareholders and are currently seeking input from shareholders as part of the Company’s regular review" to avoid Icahn's proposition. What are the options? Give us the right to choose the options. If Apple doesn't, a proxy fight will probably occur. Apple has had the money in the bank way too long to suddenly hide behind "competitive conditions and the company's pace of innovation "require unprecedented investment, flexibility and access to resources."" Seriously?

  • Apple beats estimates, issues solid guidance; shares lower [View news story]
I feel like I am living in fantasyland, seeing some of these comments. Being in corporate finance, it is very easy to communicate guidance in the previous quarter so it beats estimates in the new quarter. Stock price is disappointing so until AAPL "solves the problem", we're in for more of the same. Very telling that domestic sales are down. Hope things can get fixed soon. The new retail boss should help some. Long AAPL who lives in reality.

  • How Apple Won The War For Education [View article]
Being deep in education reform, I have to disagree with this. Apple may have won the battle - yes, they provide a lot of the equipment - but Google, unfortunately, is winning the war. Why? Because Google has created the ecosystem that several education stakeholders - administrators, teachers, students, parents - use. AAPL dropped the ball and Google picked it up. And, people are using the AAPL products to get into the Google ecosystem. I am disappointed to say this. But, those are facts. AAPL must provide tools education stakeholders can use. I remain long AAPL and am hoping that AAPL will see the light on this sooner than later.

  • Apple At $800: Flight Delay Or Cancellation? [View article]
Delay, unfortunately, in holding pattern waiting for clearance to build a more innovative runway to beat out these other competitors.

  • The True Objective Of The iPhone 5C [View article]
"Apple lives in the middle of Hollywood" - incorrect, as a metaphor and in reality. "Sir Jony" - to my recollection, I have yet to see an Apple employee or other individual say "Good morning, Sir Jony" but interesting idea, nonetheless. And, unlikely Apple will be engaging "a good producer and director" for their keynotes. Steve didn't become a master storyteller overnight, he learned, and so will Tim et al. Remember great storytelling is part content and part delivery - if the content isn't there...

  • The True Objective Of The iPhone 5C [View article]
These product announcements are just not what they used to be when Steve was alive. Now, you know just about everything before the event. Interesting AAPL opted not to live stream event. Today, I needed to know only two things - how much is the 5S and when can I buy it. The 5C is definitely Jony - I felt like we went retro to 1998. I got a bigger kick out of the other two things happening - Simon & Schuster launched "Steve Jobs" in paperback (with the alternate front cover photo) and Benioff's comments about Steve at Disrupt today. I guess Wall Street wasn't impressed with the product announcements either. Will see what the climate is like at AAPL when I'm there next week.

  • Could Apple Be Working On The 'iBank'? [View article]
PDC - To be fair, Apple is looking into other areas. They have to. The smart phone market has been converging for some time. But they have been looking to other areas. iBank, work with car manufacturers, watch, TV (hopefully gets off the ground, soon), working more with government, etc. are some great recent examples. But there are some areas which they have stumbled on: namely education - and now Google's GAFE eco-system is huge - and FCP - which has never led the film and video editing market - and routers - Airport's standards are several iterations behind Netgear.

To be truthful, lately Apple has been in follower mode. Apple's "Innovation engine" at Apple is a concern - (1) Apple nose-dived in a recent poll of the 100 top innovative companies in the world to somewhere in the 70's (2) the board has started pressuring Tim on innovation.

Do you remember Apple's core value that Steve stated years ago? People with passion can change the world for the better? That's why Apple focuses so much on the customer experience - whether it is improving existing products and creating new ones, or disrupting a market. I think they will be back to old days of innovation. I hope.

  • Apple's iPhone Trade-In Program... Desperate Or Brilliant? [View article]
Another wonderful example of Apple being focused on the customer experience. And, a great customer retention exercise. Not to mention getting customers to purchase their new phone at the Apple retail store instead of through a carrier.

  • Carl Icahn Spells The End Of An Era At Apple [View article]
While Carl Icahn's comments may have boosted AAPL's share price, Larry Ellison's comments about Apple being nothing without Steve have interesting timing. Then, to top it off, we have the JOBS film and Ashton Kutcher to endure. For the moment, I guess. At least, my stock is on the rise. Long AAPL.
