  • Apple: About To Show You The iMoney? [View article]
Well, like other things, which I have commented on before, Apple lags. Apple iCloud only gives 5 GB free which gets eaten up very quickly. They lag Dropbox, Box, Drive, SkyDrive, etc that gives users x amount of free storage. Consumers, for the most part, aren't paying for cloud storage. And the small group that is, just isn't paying much. AAPL doesn't even provide incentives to earn more free space like Dropbox does. So, if they plan to do this - which is a noble effort - something is going to have to give - I won't be paying for both iMoney and iCloud storage to keep it in there and nor will a lot of others. AAPL needs to realize that gone are the days that they can charge whatever, have the large profits and have the large margins. It's catch up time. Marketplace, et al will drive prices down. Some of that is already happening now.

  • ITC Rules Apple Infringed On Samsung Patent, Shares Fall Post Session [View article]
Much ado about nothing? Not exactly, but it is close though. However, it is a big embarrassment for AAPL considering it is AAPL who has been crying foul on Samsung on patent infringement. Additionally, as some news channel noted, if you compare the iPhone to the Samsung, AAPL is light years behind technologically and that doesn't start and end with smart phones (wireless routers come to mind).

I am very long AAPL but I will say it again, AAPL has been taking their eye off the ball and trying to gain market share in the courts and they should be trying to advance products and develop new ones. If they keep going down this path it will not bode well for them. Are they in trouble now? No. But if they continue to go down this complacency trail, it won't be pretty.

  • Where In The World Is Apple's Growth? [View article]
I thought this was a nice summary of TC's comments at D11.

Do you think the culture under TC is the same as under SJ? Has AAPL taken their eye off the ball some or has the playing field been leveled? What's next for AAPL - ST and LT? Just curious on folks' comments. Oh, and if you are anti-AAPL, no need to reply.

Per TC's comments last night that GG is a "niche play" at best - a lot of Googlers have the same opinion. Just sayin. Long AAPL, btw.

Agree on the content. Striking while the iron is hot is smart considering YouTube just launched the paid model and there are enough content providers irked at YouTube for many other reasons. It would be interesting if AAPL bought Vimeo. Just sayin. AAPL was going to do something with radio streaming but I don't know what happened. It seams that video and radio streaming with iTunes does seem like a no brainer. And with the convergence of smart phone market, not much can be done there. I would like to see AAPL get into a unified online content delivery that even the Akamai guys would be envious of. Think that's the next step for AAPL and noone is really unifying it for the consumer. Additionally, that might be an interesting B2B play for AAPL as well. I could see all the amazing implications across industries, including education.

AAPL is shipping something at year-end or beginning of year related to TV, not sure what that is but based on new stuff I heard about when I was at Bang&Olufsen over the weekend, I would not be surprised, if an iTV partnership with them is coming.

I like to remember that Congress disapproval rating is 79% (or the last one I saw) and that goes for Congress as a whole.

I try to steer clear of politics and religion but seeing some of the above comments concerns me about what we have become as a nation. Scary. Scary indeed.

  • U.S. District Judge Denise Cote has dealt a blow to Apple (AAPL) over charges that it manipulated e-book prices, giving a "tentative view" that the Department of Justice will be able to show "direct evidence" that Apple took part in a conspiracy with publishers to raise prices. Apple is the last man standing in the case after all the publishers involved settled. The trial is due to start on June 3. [View news story]
Ah, now I get it. My suggestion is move to Hollywood - the industry could really use you. :)

Rand Paul gets an A as does Tim Cook. Levin and McCain? They are out of touch with reality.

Someone help me here as I cannot recall who said it but I am sure that a politician did - they said something to the effect of we shouldn't be going after the IRS but should be going after AAPL??? Give me a break - what planet are these people from? Also, wasn't it Congress that came up with these convoluted tax rules???

Seriously? I think Tim Cook and just about every other CEO would definitely disagree with you.
