Thanks for an article that requires the readers to engage in thinking. I browsed some of your earlier articles, which took the same approach and also prompted some informative comments.

  • Apple's Historical Announcement Returns And Margin Of Safety [View article]
I have to say "amen" to your assertion that Apple customer service is great. I've had IPAD's since they came on the market, but I just recently had to make my first request for customer service. Their response was so good that I could hardly believe it. I can't imagine switching to another tablet, regardless of features or cost.

  • PayPal announces "Customer First" initiative [View news story]
Asking their execs to spend time on the frontlines at call centers is something a lot of companies should try. I nominate Hughesnet, AT&T, and Humana's "Rightsource" to lead that parade.

Bullet point format is easier to read, but I will miss that Zero Hedge-type sarcasm we used to get sometimes in the paragraph format. My pet peeve is with the auto-refresh feature - hate that.

  • Retail industry analysts continue to question if Wal-Mart (WMT) is blowing its "one at bat" with perishables as the company's tendency to run light with employees appears to be creating stocking and customer service issues. While maintaining a foothold in the fresh food business is a top priority for the Wal-Mart, execs note investing in training and education is taking precedence over ramping up staffing. [View news story]
I shop at Wal-mart stores regularly in TN and FL. I'm satisfied with their meat and produce. The only meat I buy elsewhere is shrimp, which Wal-mart doesn't carry, and steaks for my husband to grill since he thinks Wal-mart steaks are not quite thick enough to grill well. I buy all produce at Wal-mart or the local farmers' markets when in season. I really think the Wal-mart bashers have their work cut out for them when trying to wean the public off Wal-mart's low prices. I'm also happy with the performance of Wal-mart stock.

  • Wall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [View article]
Mr. Jackson - I read Seeking Alpha and Zero Hedge almost every day. Zero Hedge appears to be unmoderated. There are many comments on Zero Hedge which, shall we say, lack sensitivity from my grandmotherly perspective. So what? We' re not such delicate hothouse flowers that we have to be shielded from insensitive comments. I think that no one is so unbiased as to be able to wield the moderation axe fairly. I prefer that you let me read the comments myself and let me decide which commenter is the idiot - it's usually pretty obvious to all except the idiot.

  • Stocks That Avoid Unrecoverable Foreign Dividend Withholding In Tax Deferred Accounts [View article]
CPA - In general, I agree with you about round holes and square pegs. However, in my case there are no taxable accounts, and there never will be, so I don't give up too easily.

  • Stocks That Avoid Unrecoverable Foreign Dividend Withholding In Tax Deferred Accounts [View article]
Mr. Shaw - This is such an informative article. The whole subject of dividend withholding on foreign stocks held in an IRA is just too research-intensive. Is there a way to simplify this problem for IRA accounts which should have some allocation to high-dividend foreign stocks? For example, if the IRA account invests in an ETF of high-dividend foreign stocks of companies which may be incorporated in countries which withhold on dividends, does the IRA account avoid the problem, or would non-IRA holders of the ETF still be able to claim a US credit which the IRA owner cannot?
