  • Why It Might Be Time To Take Some Apple Profits [View article]
Just before apple peaked at 705 I sold and overweighted my portfolio with 650 strikes, a lot of them. I never saw the drop coming that ensued. I ended up owning 10,500 shares of Apple and sat patiently as my portfolio took a major hit as it dropped to just under 400 a share. However crazy this sounds I never lost faith that it was a great company & would eventually bounce back. It did & I held onto all the shares until last week. I began selling into the strength & sold a big batch at 120, 125, & 130. I was waiting to sell the final 2000 shares at 135 but it never came. I'm a pure bull on apple. But I love collecting premiums by selling puts on what I consider to be a strong company. Today I'm glad I sold when I did. My portfolio has made significant profits thru my stupidity. My recent experience has taught me to add protection to my puts & never overweight like that again. So once I sell the 2,000 shares I'll begin selling puts again just not as heavily as I was. Folks, do whatever works best for you & don't get caught up in all the noise. I think appl is a great company, but even great companies can lose market share. I like the premise of the article, if you think you're overweighted, sell some. If you're not overweight hang in there, you'll be glad you did.

  • Apple: Pride Comes Before A Fall [View article]
Who would you rather believe, Blair or Icahn? Seems like a no brainer to me. Will apple just keep going up, no, pull backs & dips are a normal part of all stocks sold on the open market. I had overweighted my portfolio in apple, I intend to hold on to some, but also selling into the strengths along the way. If I had listened to Blair, I'd be broke.

  • Apple Investors Should Think Twice About 2015 [View article]
One of the best moves while appl is going down is to simply buy a put & sell a covered call. It protects the stick you own & makes money if apple drops. Once apple starts going up the price appreciation is greater then the loss on the put/ call so it's easy to simply close up the put/call position & start collecting the stock appreciation. Why on earth would anyone short aapl stock when you can trade like I'm explaining. So far my account value has dropped very little as the put/call has added cash flow back into my account. Then as appl gets closer, like today, to earnings, remove the put/call. If I expect large swings in an earnings report I simply buy a put & buy a call. If a large swing does occur it's very profitable. Nflx, goog, appl, pcln all offer great opportunities if you know what you're doing. To tell people to go short instead of placing on puts and calls (although is a short method of trading) is insane. As appl turns positive again I sell the puts and buy the calls. At the same time I'm holding a large chunk of appl. Plus I'm collecting dividends. I just can't figure out why on earth everyone doesn't do this? It's a simple way to generate cash flow regardless of which way the stock you own is going.

  • Apple 2015 Outlook: Where Do We Go From Here? [View article]
Actually there is a way to short any stock and avoid the issues you are talking about. Buy buying puts you can short a stock and only risk the premium. I'm long appl, but I bought a protective put while selling a covered call and as apple stock has dropped my account value is going up. Periodically I remove the setup and take the profit and then set up another one. It's been a very productive strategy thus far. The naked call is another way to short, but personally I prefer buying the put and selling a call to pay for the cost.

  • Apple Pay - Nice But Not A Big Deal [View article]
At what point in anyone's thought process did 1.1 billion not add much to a companies bottom line? Also your calculations didn't even consider the growth rate at which apple pay transactions will go up. I realize your articles are always slanted to undercut apple, but clearly what apple had just done is remarkable & can make a difference to apples bottom line!

  • Why Apple Is A Flight To Safety Destination Today [View article]
Thanks for the article! I would like to know what other indicators to watch for in order to jump into the tvix, SQQQ & other short positions. I recently bought a few thousand shares of the tvix at 2.98. It jumped to 4.00 and I dumped at 3.98. Not a huge killing, but I felt I was a tad early. I'm watching interest rates carefully and feel that I should but more Tvix before October. Any thoughts or articles you have on the topic would be helpful. I'm following you & I think a lot of readers could make some money in the short term by taking on some volatility trades and brief short positions.

  • Apple Earnings: Ecosystem Contraction Playing Out; Regulatory Risk Looms In China [View article]
Everyone keeps talking about the IPad contractions. I think the slower sales is due to the fact that iPads are so reliable they don't need to be upgraded as often as a phone. My family owns iPads from the second generation to the latest. I own the latest because I use mine for work. My girlfriend has the previous generation & has no need to upgrade because hers works fine & dies exactly what she needs it to. Even though hers weighs a ton compared to mine, it works great. My other family members have the IPad previous to hers. And agin, they work so well there's no need to upgrade. Over time I think iPads will continue to exhibit strong sales, just not soaring until a newer technology comes out that none of the others have.

  • Apple Earnings: Ecosystem Contraction Playing Out; Regulatory Risk Looms In China [View article]
Contraction? Duh! Didn't you see the growth in china? Weren't iPhone sales this quarter higher than last year? Didn't Mac sales go up? Didn't iTunes do really well? If you call this quarter a contraction you should short apple with all your might! I'll stay long until the end if the year at least!

  • Apple beats EPS estimates, but guides light [View news story]
Any other company hitting numbers like these would have a skyrocketing high stock price. It never fails to amaze me that such a great company with an amazing cash flow doesn't leap with such a good earnings report. I've been in it for the long haul & continue to be. Most of my family and friends are all waiting for a bigger screen. I could have upgraded a year ago but didn't because my phone works great & all I want is the bigger screen. I think a lot of people are waiting like me. So I see the bigger screen phones as a huge catalyst for the next quarter provided they come out with it soon.

  • Apple may make largest acquisition with $3.2B Beats deal [View news story]
While I have no idea what apple is up to it doesn't make sense to buy this company for such an extremely high price! However, and this is a big however, if Beats owns a specific patent on music streaming or the music streaming on beats has something apple needs then the buy might make sense. However if this was the case overpaying makes no sense. Beats headphones are not the best out there, and since apple only wants to sell high end product lines, owning this portion of the business seems counterproductive to their business theme.

  • Apple Is Significantly Undervalued - Shares Are Worth North Of $650 [View article]
Doesn't really matter what number you come up with, if the market isn't pushing apple higher than it's only worth what the markets say it is. Today it's worth 535. Monday it might be worth more or less according to what the buyers and sellers determine it to be. Been reading articles like this for the last year and a half. I'm long apple, agree with your article, but find myself thinking apple is worth far more than it's current price while the rest of the market disagrees.

  • Apple: Dividend Increase Coming Soon [View article]
Actually apples outstanding shares based on the most recent buyback stand in the 860's range, not 890. Sure would be nice to come up to a 3% dividend. I think that would do a lot to drive investors into the stock.

  • Ampio spins off sexual dysfunction business Vyrix Pharmaceuticals [View news story]
So how does this spin off affect current shareholders of AMPE stock? One of the reason's I invested in ampio to begin with was due to this drug in their pipeline. If their spining it off into a separate company and only maintain 50-80% ownership don't we all lose out on the full benefit and only take part in 50-20% ownership of the ED drug? If so, that sucks!

  • Why Apple Didn't Fix Its Biggest Problem [View article]
Today, in Houston, my girlfriend & office manager and I went to apple store. It was packed! They only had two 5s's left and we snagged both. Silver & 32 gig were the only choice. They both traded in their old phones for 200.00 and both walked out only paying an extra 100.00. They were stoked. I spent the entire time talking to employees and asking questions about the sales of the 5c & 5s. They told me that every morn a shipment arrives & before 3pm they are sold out of the 5s's. All told me the 5c's are selling really well & they have been swamped since their release. I'm trying to hold out in buying a new iPad. I'm waiting because I know a new release is around the corner. I suspect many others are in the same boat, mine is an ipad2. Only one of them seemed to put the iPad release in proper perspective. Based on rumors I have been assuming new iPads would be announced in October. Their manager strongly disagreed. He felt that since it wasn't announced at the same time as the new phones that it was very unlikely that new iPads woud come out in October. He felt that next march or may would be the releases for iPads. Although no one knows for sure, I just may pick new iPads up if new ipads arent announced in oct. I came to own 3,000 shares of apple from puts i had sold last sept right before the drop, in at 630.00. Everything that I see tells me apple is a great investment and to just hold. Yet, it seems regardless of any positive information on apple that comes out, the stock just isn't responding as most stocks normally would. I've been trading for a long time and have never seen any company with this kind of revenue & quality products get hit this hard & fail to respond to great information like the 9 million weekend sales etc...yet, with articles like this bombarding the media left & right I would think investors would read crap like this and people really base their investment strategies on articles like this? Only time will tell if I was right or wrong with my trade & analysis. Clearly for the time since i made the trade I've been on the wrong side of this trade. Either way this trade has really taught me more than any other trade I've ever made! Good luck to all the other apple longs.
