  • What To Expect Next After Nokia Soared [View article]
Right. Just like how no one would have bought smartphones as it would never have replaced computers.

  • Nokia (NOK) roundup: 1) UBS has raised its estimates and ASP and margin forecasts on encouraging signs about Lumia demand, but is maintaining a Neutral. The firm expects 4M Lumia shipments in Q4, and 20M in 2013. 2) Amidst reports of supply issues, China's Sohu provides a (somewhat questionable) report that Lumia 920 production only amounts to 20K units/day. Meanwhile, a U.K. retailer claims the Lumia 620 will be ready to ship by the end of January. (earlier[View news story]
+1 DrTech. Yes, some NOK pessimists always claim they have zero interest, but spends loads of time 'warning' the Longs. Guess they're just kind-hearted and have lots of time to bother rebutting to almost every comment. Imagine the charity work they must be doing during their free time.

  • Nokia Rings In The Holiday Season With Strong Lumia Demand [View article]
How handy it is to quote a portion of the analysis, whilst discrediting the overall conclusion as it does not serve to support ones own view.

  • Apple's Innovation Is Stronger Than Ever, Valuation Very Attractive [View article]
One thing that I don't get. Apple is producing better quality products and earning better profit than competition (both better price and lower cost). Is the competition being ripped off for incurring greater cost to produce a phone compared to apple then? Sounds strange for better quality and lower cost to go hand in hand

  • Waiting For Godot: Time To Sell Nokia Stock [View article]
@JADO1, Totally agree. Had this devil's advocate discussion today with a few colleagues and couldn't find a reason to choose Mac/ipad over Windows 8

We assumed that every single person is both a consumer and business user, so everyone will have a choice to own 2 devices.

Business wise, reality is MSFT already owns most of the market. If an ecosystem was to be built for the business's IT environment, it would be so much easier and cost efficient to integrate/add new devices (i.e. tablets and business phones), rather than switch every single existing Windows laptop to Mac.

Consumer wise, the vast majority would tend to be influenced by the design and 'coolness' (which was why iphone became a great hit in the 1st place). Really? Having a size change is the best you can do? Plus, if your now Windows 8 laptop/convertible could change into a tablet, would you still need a tablet? To a very great extent, the logic in the business environment would apply to the individual consumer too.

No matter how we argued against it, the way it unfolded didn't seem quite rosy for AAPL.
