  • Buying USO Is a No-Brainer [View article]
I have started to accumulate DXO (double long oil). We will soon have, at the minimum, an oil bear rally, if not the end to the oil bear market.

  • Berkshire Hathaway: Insurance Market Turmoil Impacting the Bottom Line [View article]
Not to be devil's advocate, but I do appreciate these kinds of articles.

That said - I find it refreshing that even Buffett is not perfect. I admire his conviction though, even if his "cash is trash" bottom call is a little pre-mature.

    Or is it?

  • Is It Finally Time to Buy? [View article]
Great article - just what we need right now. There is still way too much optimism to be a true bottom.

  • Equities: Where Are the Bears?  [View article]
I agree. When you look at the DJIA chart after Buffett's famous October 1974 Forbes interview, it jumped and then corrected. You had one more chance TWO MONTHS LATER to catch the bottom before it took off. Also, Goldman Sachs (GS) jumped after Buffett's recent move was publicized and then corrected dramatically after a couple weeks.

The Buffett Bottom? Maybe but I would not bet the farm - just yet. At least wait for a better entry point.

DISCLOSURE: I am long QQQQ at 30.

  • Cramer's Now a Market Timer? [View article]
The problem I had with Cramer's "Sell" advice was his timing. He should have said it last December. In fact, back then he should have said:
"sell everything and then buy some shorting ETFs like PSQ, DOG or SH."

Market timing is a dream, not a reality for most people (and hedge funds!)

  • Fear Is Not a Strategy [View article]
This year was not a good example of your point, because the government has been constantly changing the rules. All cash or all short since last Christmas would have been a very smart play, but we only know this now. Good luck buying - we have to make a move soon the way the market acting!

  • Three Stocks We're Long With High Conviction [View article]
Look at the 3-month charts of FFH and DLIA. AFTER he's finished buying and his positions are hugely up, NOW he's telling us to buy? A little late in the game, don't ya think? Just take your profits and leave us alone. These self-promoting, greedy posts make me sick.

And Warren Buffett in the news so much lately - I could puke. I guess 52 million isn't enough for him. Hey, let's all bid up GS and make him even richer !!!

  • Why I'm Shorting Apple Ahead of Earnings  [View article]
Congratulations Ben - you were right and the rest of us Apple bulls were wrong. If I had listened to you, I would be a lot richer now.

I look forward to reading your posts in the future.

  • Confirmatory Bias and Oil Investing [View article]
A worthwhile read, although you are obviously a oil bubble bear. The examples are valid however and I think either camp would find this article thought provoking. Thanks!

  • Calling Today A Short-Term Bottom for Financials [View article]
Volume reversals cannot be gleaned from ETFs or ETNs. That's because they show activity in the FUND, not the underlying equities. Price is ok (especially for the larger ETFs because of there high liquidity) but volume? Sorry guys - no way.

A company's stock (or an index, if volume is available) is far better for volume reversal analysis.

I trade ETFs but I only look at price. I haven't done as well as with actual companies because my timing has sucked so far.

  • Motorola, Nokia, Palm, RIM Suffering iPhone Headache [View article]
I own both Apple and Nokia. I plan on moving more to Nokia because:
    1. I've waited long enough for Apple's big iPhone 2.0 rally that never happened.
    2. Nokia does not hinge on a sickly looking charismatic leader who may not be around much longer.

  • Is Gold a Good Investment During the Credit Crunch? [View article]
Please see this excellent article from Hard Assets Investor:
    seekingalpha.com/artic...
The chart "Correlation? What Correlation?" shows that oil and gold are 80% correlated. USO and GLD are currently my best holdings. So Roland Watson, "How Long Will Inflation Last?" should be your follow-up article. I wait for it with anticipation.

  • Apple Will Flourish With or Without Steve Jobs [View article]
DriftingCloud, I'm also guardedly long Apple, for the same reasons that you cited.

This article is a little too rosy for me. It should be compared to the following to get a more realistic picture of a Job-less Apple:
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

I think the jury is still out on Apple without Jobs. iPhone 2.0 should soon cause the shares to rise, hopefully breeching major resistance at 190. Then I plan on selling all my Apple, probably never to return. Just too risky for my blood above 190.
