  • Is There A Good Way To Fire Your Customers?  [View article]
Oh, Radio Shack is not throwing all their customers out...there are about 20% of the stores that are privately owned dealers that I'm sure are not taking down any displays just yet. In fact, they have a loyal base with knowledgeable salespeople(owners) that have made their way through this awful mess of CEO's and are still standing and serving...in spire of the Bezos Empire! Until he ,Bezos ,is literally 5 minutes away with a knowledgeable geek in hand there is still some light ahead. Hang on, when the freemium (free frt. on products sold at cost) is over he , Bezos, will still need to make some
Profit ... like the rest of us...someday....Vernon

  • Stifel Nicolaus thinks RadioShack (RSH -4.4%) will unveil a new plan this month to turn its fortunes around. With costs already cut to the bone, the firm thinks store closures or a sales of assets could be part of the announcement.  [View news story]
I don't thinks so. The head guy(Joe) has only been there 10 weeks. That's too soon to be selling assets...but there will be a go-go plan...Let's be sure it is enough to turn the pundits off for a couple quarters ...til we some execution ....

  • RadioShack: Investment Or Speculation?  [View article]
I would like to ask why it took you 18 years to leave...but I won't!
Please also remember that 20 %of those stores are dealers and there are a lot of well experienced geeks there. Do you want to say something negative about dealers...I'm waiting.

I think you missed an asset...There are over 10,000 geeks , several of which are within 5 miles of you now, that work those stores...You don't get that at Walmart or Amazon . There is lots of margin in non-phones and those geeks "stay up" with what you need to "hook you up". The trick is to build up those total margin dollars as the operating margin percent surely will rise over the next few quarters.V.

What is "increasing a charge for tax deferred assets" ($67M). Is that something like writing off the kitchen sink for the new guy?

  • Will Emerging Markets Save RadioShack?  [View article]
Interesting and about right on the start up cost of a good franchise in the state ...but it does point out that the name "RADIO SHACK" alone should be worth more than 2.25 a share! ...Go RSH ....
