  • Warnings signs emerge on Chinese automobile market [View news story]
Typical American environmentalist comment, Chubbs. Large coal fired power plants can be upgraded to burn coal more completely (higher Temperatures) and also clean the exhaust with various air cleaning methods... ie cyclonic air centrifugation, filters, giant settling bags, etc. We don't hear much about those engineering efforts in the USA because of 'religious environmentalists' who can't get past COAL - EVIL. I think the Chinese see the value in solving problems like dirty air with engineered solutions. The US seems to think lawyers and politicians (redundant?) solve problems... I think they cause problems.

  • Are Ford's European Troubles Making The Auto Manufacturer A Buy, Hold, Or Sell? [View article]
Does the "economical" include the 34% (Dec 2014 US) higher cost of diesel fuel? With the new F150 getting 26 mpg EPA on the highway, the diesel competition will need to 35 mpg to equal Ford's $ per mile.

  • Ford adds 38.5K vehicles to Takata-related recall [View news story]
I have read that millions of Hondas and Toyotas have the "exploding w/shrapnel" Takata air bags in them. It will be interesting to see if Consumer Reports considers this a reliability problem. My guess is they will condemn Ford and Honda/Toyota equally. Ford for their 34K vehicles and Honda for its 6 million.

  • Positive reviews for the 2015 F-150 pile up [View news story]
The new Ford frame uses "high strength steel" to get some of the 800 lb weight reduction. Various high strength steels have been around and used in aerospace (and other less $$$ sensitive) applications for decades. If Ford pulls this off, it will be by cost effectively using aluminum and high strength steel to improve performance. I hope they have....

  • Ford CEO talks trade on Capitol Hill [View news story]
Tit for Tat trade policy, it's the only way. When Korea's government audits every buyer of an American car, we do the same to buyers of Korean cars - until they stop. How about we individually inspect (for safety of course) every Japanese car coming off the boat for say $10,000??? (like Japan does to our autos). We are losing our manufacturing base by being played for stupid Americans by our 'friends' in the World.

Sarah, your comment is simply a collection of name-calling...."ignor... "arrogance", "astonishing lack of awareness", "wasting my time". Where are your facts or even unsubstantiated ideas? Seeking Alpha generally has more intelligent comments than Twitter or Facebook...please try to refrain from the name-calling. Thank you.

  • Ford Vs. GM: Where The Real Difference Lies [View article]
XLS is a regular Ford 'smear' man. He's really the only non-credible guy doing this on Seeking Alpha, which makes him easy to ignore. Others have some info to add, which jives with other sources I read or have experienced. I have driven Buick Regals (GS - supercharged) and Ford F150's my whole adult life (61 years). They are both a couple thousand dollars less than comparable foreign brands, and have been highly reliable for me. The Buick will lose a power window around 100k to 120k miles, and the F150's spark plugs are a bitch to change. Other than that & brakes, they are comfortable, lovely vehicles to drive to 150k miles.

  • It's Bubble Time: A Study Of Peak PE For The S&P 500 [View article]
Hello James, thanks for the reply that sparked a good discussion with lots of references, mostly from Mr. Stuber (Bloomberg, Reuters, Time, etc) I am definately not a conspiracy theorist kind of guy. I am a truth-seeker. The 'mystery' comes from the fact that the business media reports so little on what may be a key parameter in the market. I also don't believe the central banks (other than the US - if the JPM purchasing is true) would be buying equities to prop up our market. They would be searching for higher returns on their money than 'safe' bonds currently deliver.

I would disagree with you if you are asserting that all equity purchases would be happening transparently. I am an experienced investor/trader who absorbs many hours of news every day. Watching stock prices lurch up or down in the days before a big news announcement is commonplace.
