  • Google And Several Other Tech Heavyweights Might Have Tax Problems [View article]
"If you are suffering austerity measures them remember that these were caused by years of overtaxation to fund government overspending which produced nothing."

Actually the austerity is a result of a government bail-out of the banking system. Social perks don't even come in to it.

  • Is Facebook Falling Apart? [View article]
I agree Facebook will be the leader in the social space for years to come, but two things I've noticed recently:

    1) The advertisements are getting more numerous - and annoying.
On a mobile it's especially noticeable. On a desktop I can block the ads, or my brain simply filters them out, but on a mobile when you have an advert taking up the entire page (as it does on a small iPhone screen) that's an entire thumb swipe just to get past 1 advert.

The number of adverts has noticeably increased the past few months. I know friends have removed anything they've previously Like'd to get rid of the targetted adverts.
People are realising they are the product, and they're getting more reluctant to hand over their personal details.

The other day I had Facebook ask me which school I went to (with 3 suggestions it had picked up), I found this quite disconcerting, to say the least.

    2) The ratio of friends NOT using Facebook (updating with statuses or photos in the past few months) has noticeably increased. Your mileage and friends will obviously vary, but here (UK) and in my age range (25-30) there's been a huge and very noticeable drop-off in usage of my friends in the past 12 months. I expect this to continue in developed markets.

  • After January's long-awaited touchscreen rollout, BlackBerry (BBRY) is ready for this year's Act Two: the physically keyboarded Q10, which might arrive in the U.K. Friday. The firm faced criticism by loyalists over its decision to release the touch-screen Z10 first (as well as reports of mass returns). But can the Q10 sell enough to loyal keyboarders and upgraders to make a splash in a consistently shrinking side of the market? [View news story]
Just received an email from Blackberry this morning introducing the Q10. Stay tuned to hear rave reports from the UK about this device- this will set the stock on its' course up, up & away!
